How to tell anyone anything, without telling everyone everything.
It is a fine tightrope, and as a provider you walk it every day. On one hand you need to be responsive, flexible and welcoming to potential clients. On the other you need to protect yourself. You need to make your information accessable to anyone who desires your services. Services for anyone, but not everyone. How do you accomplish this high wire act?
1. Get references, and follow up on them
2. Ignore all graphic contacts, be it phone or email
3. Keep it classy, not trashy
4. Be safe for safety's sake, don't worry about running off potential clients with your safeguards. Those that want your services will do what they can to provide accurate and verifiable information.
I know this may be redundant, but it doesn't hurt to go over the basics.
