The leading myrmidon for the GOP has only fear, the status quo, a waffling/acquiescing to continued tax cuts for the top 2%, and the promise of 100 years of continued profits for the military industrial complex to campaign on compared with universal healthcare, election reform, tax reform, alternative energy research /industry, and an end to the Iraq debacle.

The “usual asinine sources“ are only reacting out of frustration, and impending defeat.

This morning, I posted what I hoped would be a thread that would lead to some dialog.
It didn't, just the usual infantile bullshit comments from the usual assinine sources.

I've had it. I really have. I'm moving on.

This forum has nothing more to offer me, and I have nothing left to say here.

I did not reply to your post before this one or read any of the "infantile bullshit" from the usual "assinine" sources that prompted this last post of yours.

But I will now!

I haven't read the post or responses, but I am sure I won't be too surprised by some of the comments. You and I don't often agree on political philosphy but I have come to respect your arguments for your positions. Many of us take somewhat flippant shots at others on this board and I see it as a healthy means of venting frustration that is generated by political discussions. You have contributed in a good way to those discussions. You are not dismissed, get back to your post. Sgt. Harry J.

how else could you think that having your way is normal?

No tax cuts for the bottom 50% because they don't pay any. They just soak up what others pay and cry about that. I am not in the top "2%", however, they pay an inordinate share of the burden shirked by others. My recollection is that they pay about 30% of the total. The top 10% pay about 85% of the total tax. Hooraah for parasites.

people who have the dough find enough ways around taxes.

The rates may be punitive, but I'll bet you that once you go over the returns, actual payments aren't any more in absolute numbers than bottom 50%.

You have scamsters on either end.  It's by & large the rats in the middle of the treadmill who pay the bill.

That will never change, because it's most of us.  OTOH, it's an insult to be led by people who avoid their obligations - both draft AND taxes - on the top end, just as it's an annoyance to be harrassed by the people on the low end.

It's anybody's guess and judgment if the people on the low end can do any better.  The people on the high end ARE doing better - they're fucking us, and they've made you happy about it.

I'm not happy about being "fucked" by anyone except a pretty woman. I don't consider the high enders to be screwing me. I don't envy them and want to have the government thugs rob them either. What I really get pissed about are the slackers who don't do a damn'd thing except demand that their government keeps hijacking them and giving them a share of the goods. Material things don't mean a lot to me. I'd rather have a night with a pretty woman than a million dollars.

Exxon Mobil alone pays as much in taxes as the entire bottom 50% of taxpayers. Please stay the fuck out of my wallet.

I did not avoid the draft nor have I avoided taxes amd I am sick and fucking tired of assholes wanting to get deeper in my pocketbook.

Just because I've been a little smarter or worked a little harder doesn't mean that I want to carry the entire fucking country on my back.

I feel so much better now.

"The leading myrmidon for the GOP has only fear, the status quo, a waffling/acquiescing to continued tax cuts for the top 2%,"

...Would your world be fair if the top 2% paid all the taxes and you paid none??

"The top 1% pay over a third, 34.27% of all income taxes. (Up from 2003: 33.71%) The top 5% pay 54.36% of all income taxes (Up from 2002: 53.80%). The top 10% pay 65.84% (Up from 2002: 65.73%). The top 25% pay 83.88% (Down from 2002: 83.90%). The top 50% pay 96.54% (Up from 2002: 96.50%). The bottom 50%? They pay a paltry 3.46% of all income taxes (Down from 2002: 3.50%). The top 1% is paying nearly ten times the federal income taxes than the bottom 50%! And who earns what? The top 1% earns 16.77% of all income (2002: 16.12%). The top 5% earns 31.18% of all the income (2002: 30.55%). The top 10% earns 42.36% of all the income (2002: 41.77%); the top 25% earns 64.86% of all the income (2002: 64.37%) , and the top 50% earns 86.01% (2002: 85.77%) of all the income."

Don't you just hate it when Rush puts the truth out in simple words??

I believe in either a "simple" flat income tax where everyone and every business pays the same percentage, or the 'Fair Tax' where everyone and every business pays a uniform federal sales tax on new item / original purchases.
The latter "Fair tax" also gets rid of the need for the IRS, their illegal forcing of a filer's waiving his 5th Amendment Right, as well as the onerous and costly tax preparation industry as a whole.

GaGambler1991 reads

But just because Rush says it doesn't make it false. Rush might be a pompous ass, but facts are facts.

BTW I agree, either a "flat" or "fair" tax would be much more preferable than the current system. It doesn't change the fact that under the current system the rich still pay more, much, much more than either the lower or middle class.

hope that the P & R will improve. To improve this discussion board we need to:

1) Remove the word "religion" from Politics and Religion. The word religion narrows the conversation subjects. A more appropriate and inclusive name would be the words "Politics and Society".

2) Install a moderator to the Board.

3) Prohibit the use of profanity. Four letter words = inappropiate and unsavory discussions.

4) Limit the use of aliases. One should stand behind your beliefs and words. The use of aliases encourages the use of banal language because of the illusion of anonymity. I doubt if many of these "assinine" sources would make these "infantile comments" in real life.

Anyway Doctor Gonzo, I do hope you, Zinaval and BSD return to the board. This Politics board could be so much more. This Republic is only as strong as we the people continue to advocate and dissent in civil discourse.
