Study: Ethanol may add to global warming

"""Using good cropland to expand biofuels will probably exacerbate global warming," concludes the study published in Science magazine."""

Forgetting about how this biofuel kinnard is stealing food off poor people's kitchen tables....it's also drowning polar bears...how heionous!!!

that when more energy goes into producing less energy will lead to undesired consequences.

Not really a earth shattering discovery.

...the Easter Islanders, who built and worshipped those huge Moas. Archaeologists studying the site have marveled about their prodigous use of logs needed to transport the Moas to their sites. Indeed, this practice completely deforested the island, hastening the demise of their civilization.

As kerrakles points out, our development of corn-based ethanol as an alternative energy source makes absolutely no sense, since it has a negative to zero EROEI (Energy Returned on Energy Invested).

Possibly future archeologists (i.e., that's future 'those who beat off to science books' to you BK) will determine that our society collapsed because we worshipped Archer Daniels Midlands and early Iowa primary voters.

That would be Nobel Al to you, Nonsense.

Beat off to that.....

"""I was also proud to stand up for the ethanol tax exemption when it was under attack in the Congress -- at one point, supplying a tie-breaking vote in the Senate to save it. The more we can make this home-grown fuel a successful, widely-used product, the better-off our farmers and our environment will be."""""

This is how smart people talk.

...is that we are only too happy to point out when our leaders go off the trolley track.

This is one of those times when Al was being dopey...good catch.

I would argue, however, that Al has occasionally been on the trolley track while your erstwhile leaders (e.g., Bush & Cheney) have yet to catch sight of one.

I don't get lead around the nose by "leaders". That way, I don't have to proffer silly excuses like "one of those times when Al was being dopey" when you get hoisted by your own petard......

One of your problems is that you tend to think of 'leaders' as 'mein fuhrer'.

I tend to think of leaders more in the vein of the Mark Twain quotation:

"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it."

To paraphrase Twain in this instance: "My support of a leader only extends to when they're right...and when they're wrong, to set them right."

Gore was wrong for his support of ethanol, and I don't mind anyone (even you, BK) pointing that out.

You show your arrogance when you purport to know how I think.....

Speaking of Twain, I've always had a soft spot for this quote:

Imagine, if you will, that I am an idiot.

Then, imagine that I am also a Congressman.

But, alas, I repeat myself."
-- Mark Twain

which I keep under my pillow for those nights when Mrs Kile isn't in the mood. So I guess we're on the same track...

Let us be honest and include this report is based on CORN based ethanol in the US controlled by the Grain Lobby to get massive subsidies.

Sugar cane changes the equation to great deal as in Brazil, and there are some grass from which bio-fuels can be made and are not a threat to  food growing land because it grows arid uncultivable land and doesn't require fertilizer.

Of course, this is from global perspective. When the myopic view of US is the only country in the world, then all bets are off and unilateral view prevails.

I'm not talking about Gore! I'm talking about wacking off to pictures of sub-Saharan Tribes ladies in National Geographic and fantacizing that with makeup and a boobjob, she could be Halle Berry...

geeez, get with it krakkles....

I noticed a few masturbation posts today on the National Board.  they had nothing to do with science books or textbooks of any kind.
