I recently saw the Vegas odds on McCaine to win the nomination.7 to 1 favorite... Hillary was 2 to 1 against Obama....They had Huckabee down as McCains first choice for VP...Could this be true or just a Media lie I happened to see? Or maybe it was taped last week?

I would tend to doubt that Huckabee would be McCain's choice for VP. It simply makes no sense. The GOP knows that Huckabee would repell far more voters than he would attract on the national stage.
Huckabee had his 15 minutes, and in so doing has exposed the strength and weakness of trying to walk the fine line between Church and State.
And a Huckabee candidacy would virtually guaran-damn-tee a Democrat victory regardless of who was running. Even Mondale or Dukakis would win against a Huckabee led ticket, let alone Hillary or Obama.

If McCain is smart his choice for VP will be one with the cachet of bipartisanship. It is the only way he's got a chance.

But in todays political arena, most likely his VP selection will be one who brings votes. Which means most likely pandering to the extreme right.

and I doubt that McCain will be stupid enough to pander to the right in his choice for VP. The problem with our current system(well, one of the problems)is the candidates have to pander to the extremists in their respective parties to garner the nomination, then they have to find some way to get back to the center to win the GE.

McCain is already perceived to be a democrat in repuplican clothing, which IMO gives him a very good chance to win the GE. Once again the Dems will find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
