There are four propositions on the California Primary Ballot that deal with Indian Casinos.  Basically, a yes vote would allow the casinos to have more slot machines.  Also included in the propositions is a provision that would provide an estimated nine billion dollars to the state paid by the casinos.  All of this is mildly interesting except for the fact that the proposition is supported by the police, the firefighters, the chamber of commerce, and various taxpayer associations.  The no people are the usual Nevada gaming interests, and the California race tracks.  The police today are supporting gambling because of the tax revenue: Yet a few years ago people went to jail for doing the same thing.  Just remember the anti-vice laws are to maintain high moral values and have nothing to do with revenue for the state or lack thereof.   What a flip flop.

I think its great, and the irony is delicious.

It was the GREED of the White Man that almost destroyed the Native American tribes.

It is the GREED of the White Man that has re-empowered the Native American tribes.

I'll be voting YES YES YES YES... and hope that 9 billion doesnt get re-allocated away from education like the lotto did.
