after 60 years, they're really good at it, no need to practice!

they need to brushup on their jailbraking skills and bust me out of the Florence, colorado sipermax prision when I unjustly languish, an American Dreyfuss.  didnt they see Paul Newman in Exodus?

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

Not bad.

did you hear the one where the Christians are claiming I-35, an interstate highway going from texas to minnesota is the "Highway of Holiness" referred to in the Old Testament (their miserably mistranslated King James version, anyway).

Isaiah 35:8 reads: "And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it."

I-35 indeed.

You know you're a Fundamentalist when you think monumentally stupid things. What's next? The image of the Virgin Mary embedded on the charbroiled skin of turkey>?

Another sign you are a fundamentalist Christian.

You preach sexual morality and abstinance and condemn the sins of pornography.  Then you secretly browse internet porn and visit escorts to fulfill your sexual desires, hiding it from your ugly wife and dysfunctional family.

Actually a lot of those Evangelicals have the hottie wives.and the wives also like the porn...

Yo'Doc!

Don't get the idol worshiping predisposition of the Catholics confused with the ignorance and denial practices of the Fundamentalists.
Neither Christian sect says much for the intellectual maturity of our species; but to be fair we must correctly discriminate between their rattle shaking dogmas.

and laying claim to land that belongs to others, to enjoy ethnic cleansing, all in the name of scriptures written thousands of years ago.

now let me return to the well-deserved public amnesia the NYC voters were smart enough in 1989 to exile me to.

With Israel and their policies.
I have some Jewish friends who are in agreement with me, so I suppose you will take the self hating Jew approach on that too. Soooo, predictable.

[a refeence to a one-time  retail electronics discounter who plagued metro NYC with some of the most hatefully obnoxios addvertising imaginable, for well over a decade].

Who incidentally, now that i rememeber, his real name was Eddie Antar, and he ran afouf of the law and fled to -- no shit, really, I kid you not  -- Israel.  He did return some years later to the USA.

First of all, I don't disagree with you at every corner.
I disagree with you on the Pollard issue, and disagree with you on many of Israel's policies.
That does not make me anti semetic. So you are wrong. I have these conversations with a few of my Jewish friends, and their panties are not bunched up their asses.
I will agree with your statements on Antar, he is  a Sy. He is also a thief, but that's another story.

As far as myself posting under an alias, I have good reasons to do so. I have multiple aliases, and I like to use them, especially when I express an opinion that is not politically correct, or will subject myself to being labeled something, which I am not, such as "dangerous"
You did give me a belly laugh, though.
Take a deep breath, Doc.

There arent too many issues in this world that really push my buttons. MOST of the buttons are hard-wired to the psychological warning system attached to my brain involving Fight or Flight with regards to Israel and Jews.

If you'd walk a mile in my shoes down memory lane, you would have vivid memories of 1960, when as an 8 year old kid, you were walking with your father and your dog down the street on a Friday night, and a pickup truck drove by and cries of "KILL THE JEWWWWWWWWWWW!!!" reached your ears right before the Molotov cocktail they threw missed you by only a few feet. And this was in Hancock Park, a very upscale neighborhood in Los Angeles.

You would remember 1964 when you were 12, and on your first visit to Israel, you were in your hotel room when the ground rocked and you heard the explosion and was thrown to the floor and found out later there had been a terrorist bombing down the street. You would remember reading in the paper the next day how Yasser Arafat and his PLO had taken credit for blowing up a school bus, killing the driver, several children, and wounding dozens. 1964. The Arabs were still desecrating Jewish gravestones and the Western Wall was a retaining wall for an Arab stable.

You would remember 1970, when as an 18 year old kid living on a Kibbutz in northern Israel, you sustained serious injuries due to a terrorist attack led by (or at least ordered by) that same Yasser Arafat. You would remember how you had been riding on the jeep with your friend Menachem one second, and watching him decapitated by shrapnel the next. You would remember the horror of 18 children and another dozen adults being pulled from the wreckage of a destroyed building. You would remember this with every step you took for the rest of your life, the lifelong limp and dull ache in your right leg a constant reminder of your close call.

You would undoubtedly remember the Sbarro pizzeria bombing in August 2001, an attack which left your relative with dozens of injuries due to flying shards of glass, and with permanent psychological damage. You would remember how she died in a hospital bed 4 years later, screaming in pain from the shattered glass she still imagined was piercing her flesh.

And you would certainly remember 911, and your two cousins who were among the 3000 killed in the attack.

Most of all, and most painful of all, you would remember nightly how you would be awakened in the middle of the night as a child by your mothers nightmares of Auschwitz and the unimaginable horrors she witnessed and endured.

I have no problem with you expressing your opinion re: Pollard. I have no problem with Xiaominglover1 expressing his opinions, odious as i might find them. It's in the way the opinion is expressed; the snide subtleties that linger between the lines, the fear and loathing (had to get that in there somehow) that cowers just beneath the surface of the words. Not so much you, as Xiao and others.

Yes TBC, its very personal. I acknowledge the occasional difficulty I have in keeping comments written by you, Xiaoming, and others in proper perspective when it comes to Israel and the Jews. It's in my blood. It's survival instinct; Fight or Flight.

Peace Out

Hey, somebody somewhere would buy that charbroiled skin of turkey!!

ebay baby!!

lol

Jimbo

Where do you think i got the idea from? Last year, I saw an ad on ebay for the image of the virgin mary that had manifested itself on the back of a thanksgiving turkey. Only thing more ludicrous than the offer were the 7 bids taking the price over $250.

you delude yourself into believing  that you're going to convert the Israelis to Xtianity [and hence hasten the Second Coming.  New Flash to the Fundies -- He's on his own damn timetable, AND you're NOT impressing HIM in the least];

you render unto God what is God's, but what is Caesar's you happily render unto AIPAC, the Likud, and the Knessett.  And you're totally oblivious to the deafening sound of side-splitting laughter and knee-slapping chortling.  Small wonder, as it's all at your expense.  Still, patience is a virtue [as you tell yourself constantly as you search out that first convert];

you recognize only the first 2 of the Abrahamic faiths, and not for theological reasons.  and truth be told, your tolerance of the oldest Abrahamic faith is purely one of convenience [on both sides];

you will pretty much do and say anything to convine your new-found friends of The Old Testament that, no, you're NOT anti-Semitic, no matter how troubling are the words and deeds you are expected to affirm to give evidence of your good intentions.  All of which seem curiously to involve the furtherence of Israel's secular power political realpolitik goals.  Hmm???  And to be allowed to continue your Quixotic task of conversion.   Please let me know when you've hooked one.

10 - deny existence of gods claimed by other religions, but outrage when existance of mine is denied... God had to make itself known to various cultures adapted to meet the environmental and social maturity of the society.

9 - insulted when scientists say evolution but we were created from dirt.....  Evolution - not a problem... as for from dirt - we are from dirt... as are all living creatures... same elements... C, N, O etc.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God....  one part from 3 - sheese thought that st. Patrick solved that centuries ago... ya mustn't be irish.  (oh, I guess that your fingers and toes must be different life forms...)

7 - "atrocities" attributed to Allah, God/Jehovah slaughtered the babies of Egypt....
You forgot the flood - common to both the Mulim and Christian Faiths.... or other similar "atrocities"  - only explanation ?  Primative remidies for primative civilizations... or more accurately Man's fallable interpretation of natural occurances.

6 - Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.  First, many of the early religious beliefs were common - See # 10 above... As far as dying and coming back to life... well, if god, is GOD then God can do whatever God wants - including coming back to life... and as far as "ascended into the sky"  - I think you mean Heaven - which is not necessarily the "sky"

5 - scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen - a few generations.  nope!  I don't have a problem with the scientific age of the Earth... actually count on it... but where in the bible... does it say what the age of the earth is... it doesn't.....   because it does provide that "time" as WE define it is meaningless to God....  so... when he says that creation was complete in 7 days... it is a meaningless statement....

4 - entire population of this planet - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering....   Read some of the works of Kubla Ross... for a "humanistic take" on this... she describes that for some - there is no light at the end of the tunnel... rather a "Darkness" that is totally uninviting...  maybe the best description of hell that I have ever read...  and it is independant of religious affiliation or creed....  chilling in fact.

3 - An idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity. - nope - takes more than that, one actually has to live the expempary life... and not prostelitize... rolling on the floor and speaking in "tonques" mearly means that you may have an imbalance in your synaptic signalling processes

2 - 0.01% as a "high success rate" answered prayers. evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God. - ALL prayer is answered... but as with the case of a parent - if my kid asks me to buy him a pound of coke... and I say "no" I have answered... just not with the wish he wanted...

1 - You know less than many atheists and agnostics do- but still call yourself a Christian.  Probably true... but Pascal says it best for me with his wager.

When last I spoke with a true athiest, I pointed out to her that modern science was much like religion... and that heretics were rooted out!  she got all indignant and while I was smiling and trying to carry on a polite conversation - she continued to raise her voice... louder and louder... me?  I walked away... and this from a lass with 38 DDD's!  With some, there is no reason - on either side of the church aisle.
