Was yesterday a reality check for Hillary?

Now I am a Democrat.  An article of proof, I once worked for the Babbitt campaign making cold calls to Iowa.

I respect Sen Clinton.  However, I have always questioned her electability for President by the American public.

One of the nuances of Iowa is that the caucuses are "open".  Democrats, Independents and Republicans, all participated in the "Democratic" caucuses.  Turn-out was great, but was the the rank and file of of the party?  Now Iowa is hardly a representative sample of the US, but this wasn't simply the say of the Democrats of Iowa.

"I respect Sen Clinton".

Exactly what do you respect about Hillary???I really like the fact IOWA doesn't matter to all the Hillary supporters.

Many, many candidates (including Bill Clinton) have lost Iowa, N.H. etc. and have gone on to win the nomination.  Clinton, Romney, and Guiliani have very strong organizations and will make a lot of noise by Super Tuesday.

What I will concede is that if Hilary had won Iowa that would have cemented her status as "inevidible" and pretty much end the race on the Dem side.  My money is on Obama to take New Hampshire as well.

And on this subject, I happen to agree with you... but Obama won't be the one at the end. He might take New Hampshire, but I expect him to falter, or be tripped up by the time Super Tuesday rolls around.

Huckabees message won't play as well in New Hampshire either... there are alot of libertarian professors and intellectuals living in that state who are already contemptuous of Bumpkin Huckabee. I look for a strong showing by McCain on the GOP, side and a surprisingly strong showing by Edwards on the Dem side.

Ron Paul will be the big surprise in New Hampshire.

Including me. His libertarianism will play very strongly there. And if he doesn't surprise us all with a win or near win, everyone will be surprised.

I agree with you that Edwards we'll probably do very well. Obama second, Hillary-- third again.

Yeah, to see who could flush the lives we've already spent in Iraq down the drain the fastest.....

NO, to stop throwing young lives at a war built on Cheney's agenda and Bush's lies before we find we've spilled the blood of 50,000 or more merely to enrichen Halliburton and Big oil's interests.

I am not with the everyone crowd  and I expect Ron Paul to NOT do well..Obama will win again and America will finally realize we have no Queen.....except Oprah

If Bill Clinton placed at Iowa it was an accomplishment. But Hillary was a front-runner finishing in the backfield. I'll put it like this, her campaign, including her husband are acting like it was significant.

She's no longer going to be running as a front-runner.

and that's a good thing. Front runners often end up in a landfill in the end!
