Can Religion and Science co-exist?

A question many have argued in here recently.

Religion & Science are actually interchangeable parts of the same dynamic, swinging back and forth on a pendulum driven by the forces of our progression, or regression as a sentient, educated species. We've been down this road several times in our glorious history as a people.

But rather than review and belabor all the existing rationales and diatribes exhorting one viewpoint or another, I'd like to share the perspective of Jewish Mysticism, which explains Faith and Science in terms of a symbiotic relationship between "Ruch'Nius" (the Heavenly, or Spiritually Bound) and "Gash'Mius" (the Earthly Bound).

All elements of Ruch'Nius are considered the purview of Spirituality, Faith, and Religion, the interactions between Humanity and the GodHead(masculine representation); Humanity and the She'china (the feminine representation). Religion as an organized form of worship, stressing Dogma as the rituals to be observed, and Faith as the tie that binds.

All elements of Gash'Mius on the other hand, are the purview of Humanity interacting with itself. This includes all earthly tasks from agriculture to procreation to zoology and everything and anything in between. But it is limited to Earthly physical pursuits. Science. Gathering information, in order to attain a factual result.

Thousands of years ago, they had it worked out. They understood the symbiosis. Skullcaps worn by Orthodox Jews, as well as the Pope, represent that acknowledged separation between Earth and Heaven, Man and God.

Thousands of years ago, they understood that both could co-exist peacefully. I do not concern myself when a scientist also claims to be a man (or woman) of Faith. It's the ones who confuse Dogma with Data that are the problem.

Happy Holidays to you all. L'Hitra'ot & Shalom.

No it doesn't Bill, but if its properly handled, you'll be calling out to God nonetheless:)

Oh God! Oh God I'm Coming!!!

and Beethoven was composing his Ninth Symphony; it has always been my thought they were listening to the Angels sing.

Doctor Gonzo I really did not understand all you said, but it sounds good. This weekend I might have my niece who is studying ferociously her Torah help me out.

I believe in the Son, the Father, Holy Ghost, gravity and the Law of Thermodynamics.
