What a relief for conservatives after all these . . . years of the media over-reporting conservative perverts and hiding all those liberal ones. Finally, the tip of liberal libertinism has been uncovered.
Problems for conservatives? These charges may not stick, and three other conservatives will probably go down in scandal before this guy is acquitted.

Democrat child porn producer
Remember the Foley scandal that prompted Democrats to demand that Dennis Hastert resign? Now there’s a Democrat child porn producer getting a mere 10 months in prison for exploiting children. Surprising? Not really. Not when you consider the connections this guy apparently has in the Democratic party.
...instead of the 967 months in jail – nearly 81 years – for which he was liable, Judge Robert Lewis, another Democrat, gave him, in a plea bargain with the office of District Attorney Ron Moore, who was elected as a Democrat, a 10-12 month sentence.

These scandals are apparently a one-way street for Democrats and liberals. Republicans will throw a Mark Foley under the bus in a New York minute, Democrats, however, apparently see value in the alternate lifestyles of their fellow travellers. Here are some excerpts of these letters of recommendation to the court written by Democrats:
"It has been my pleasure to share Andy's commitment to ensuring that compassion and democracy are at work across our community," wrote Beth Lazer, a Democrat who shared Unitarian Universalist church theologies with Reed and serves as the head of the local public access television, URTV.
She said in her letter of reference she first worked with Reed "when we both served on the board of the local chapter of the League of Women Voters."
"What an invaluable board member he was," she said.
"I also worked with Andy on several projects at our church, most significantly our becoming a welcoming congregation," she said.
Steve Hagerman, the executive director of the Asheville Symphony, wrote on symphony letterhead that, "Reed has been a long-time supporter of the arts in Western North Carolina and has been involved in many worthwhile causes in our community."
And Oralene Graves-Simmons, a Democrat who leads the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Asheville, wrote a page and a half extolling Reed's virtues.
"When the decision was made in 2001 to incorporate the Association as an independent non-profit organization, Andy was instrumental in making it happen. He wrote the new organization's by-laws, revised and edited its incorporation papers, and, with me, determined the makeup of its founding board of directors," Graves-Simmons wrote.
"It was for his ten years of dedicated service that last January the MLK Association honored Andy with the 2005 Community Humanitarian Award," she wrote.
She noted he's also served on governing or advisory boards to the Montford Park Players, a theater company that operates each summer.
"Andy has spent all the years that I've known him bringing people together regardless of race, creed, color, or other differences, gladly working with anyone and everyone, and doing whatever needs to be done, to accomplish our mutual goals," she wrote.
But you know, everybody makes mistakes right?
His offenses involved a long list of counts that he used the Internet to collect and share graphic child pornography – mostly involving children as young as six who were filmed "engaged in sex acts with adults or other children," according to a local news report. ~worldnetdaily.com
Of course, not all Democrats want to coddle child porn producers. But it seems to be a problem for some on the left to condemn these kinds of people if they agree with them politically.

In 1998 she called (in a campaign ad) for Bill Clintons resignation saying "I beleive that personal conduct and integrity do matter". Days laters she admitted to a six-year adulterous affair with a married associate. but now she claims a pardon from a higher authority: "I've asked for God's forgiveness, and I've received it," she revealed.

In a shocking development from San Francisco, longtime liberal talk show host Bernie Ward has apparently been indicted on charges related to child pornography, according to several sources in Baghdad-By-The-Bay.
Your Radio Equalizer has learned that Ward, a married father of four, could face up to five years in prison if convicted on each of the two counts. The allegations include both possessing and forwarding child porn.
The onetime seminarian and frequent cable talk show guest was to be arraigned earlier today, photographed and fingerprinted. He was expected to plead not guilty to the charges.
As of yet, a request for information from the US Attorney's office in San Francisco has not met with a response.
The longtime KGO evening host was notified yesterday by Citadel - ABC management that he has been removed from the station's schedule, effective immediately.
Whether he will be able to return is unknown at this time, but his page has not yet been removed from KGO's website. He did not host Wednesday's program.

Simply from reading your own sources. It might not be a strong case here. There's no dramatic purchases, no statements to undercover police. From the story, the charges sound like they could be pretty weak.

It's Conservative voters who have a problem with sex scandals and they've really done damage to the GOP. For that reason, I'm amused.
It's also discredits their platform. Abstinence? If Conservative leaders with declining hormones can't keep it in their pants, it doesn't bode well for persuading teenagers to do it.

Too be honest, the only thing that bothers me is the child pornography issue. My first reaction after reading the story, was that he was innocent, even Neal Boortz gave him the BOD, but after hearing he is seriously considering a plea, I am concerned on two fronts.
One is that he truly is innocent, and he explantion is plausible, most pedophiles are not indicting on two counts, most are indicted on two hundred. This would mean that an innocent man was railroaded into jail and his life ruined in the process.
The other possibility is that he is indeed guilty, and that bothers me too. Pedphiles are the lowest of the low, they steal a person's (child's) life before they have ever had a chance to live it, and for that, there is no redemption in my book.

In the times it isn't funny, I feel I've made the better choices when I see that often they are hiding a perverse desire for power and a twisted sexuality? Sorry, false advertising, there is no comprehensive list of Democratic/liberal sex scandals that I can find on the net. Maybe that liberal bias has been able to censor Google. Maybe republicans and conservatives are just too gentlemanly, or maybe too lazy, to compile. To hear Republicans talk, it shouldn't be that difficult.

I left out gay sex between adults either soliciting or by mutual consent..It doesn't matter to me what consenting adults do with each other.Its funny how many libs are fine with Gays{ I also respect gays right to play together}but when a Republican is found out to be gay Oh my thats so bad..And affairs by married men and their mistress...roflmao ...I could never be a Democrat as I would have to be a hypocrite to survive..

Since you can't see their hypocrisy first, I don't think you actually detect any hypocrisy in anyone, period. How can you hit the fastball when you can't hit the cantaloupe?
I wouldn't find so much mean humor if the gay Republican didn't have a history of hurting gays politically. But it also adds to the comedy when they continue to deny being gay.
How can you possibly equate child pornography (and child abuse) with sex scandals? There is absolutely NO comparison (regardless of one's politics, regardless of this guy's guilt or innocence).

Then it's a sex scandal. It might sound understated to you, because yes, it's also criminal, but in as far as I can imagine, it's the only sex between two living human beings that I find really scandalous.
Any coincidence (from my beliefs) that politically active Republicans seem to be way ahead on them.

I agree ..Once someone crosses the line to sexually abuse a child and I am not talking of a 18 year old with a 16 year old they are of possession of a mind so twisted that all the rehablitation in the World could not cure them..
For those that are against the death penalty or life in prison for pedophiles it would also be justice to cut off the pedophiles arms,legs and dick before release..

And they are otherwise too dangerous and devious to ever let out, or to at least not keep under strict surveillance.
And let's face it, any totally successful, verifiable "rehab" might have very dangerous implications.
Fact is, if child molestation is correlated with creating new child molesters, the sex offenders list might have the effect of lowering the numbers of child molesters in the next generation. I have my own doubts that this belief is really the case, but if so, we should at least find out pretty soon . . .
Quit playing gotcha over this. The term "scandal" came into use at a time when adultery was a major crime. Rape-murder and theft were also called "scandals" (the former being the "sex scandal" suffered horribly by Fatty Arbunkle, the latter use being Jimmy Stewart's in "It's a Wonderful Life" after George's uncle lost the S&L's cash). If it's always been totally proper to call a successful person's disgrace due to their commitment of rape, murder and theft "scandals," then my use of the word is completely proper.
Sex scandals have recently taken a far more wicked turn, but that doesn't change the fact that there is hardly any other term but "sex scandal" here. If you want to call it something else, IMO, our language hasn't caught up to your distinction. Without another term, you're just blocking communication.

There are sex scandals that involve absolutely NO crime.
Then there are scandals that are HUGE crimes that may involve what some people call sex. I do NOT call child molestation "sex". NAMBLA does, though.
Whether or not you were doing a cut and paste from some left wing blog site, YOU posted two totally dissimilar "scandals" next to one another.
The left thinks it's OK to slam the right for simple, non-criminal adultery based on the "hypocrisy" factor. The right thinks it's OK to slam the left for being soft on child molestation due the NAMBLA factor. Neither is fair. I don't think I'm blocking anything. I DO think that your are trying to promulgate the equality of all scandals. They should be differentiated. Just because you don't think you have a main stream term, doesn't give you the right to be lazy with the language.
