Doc, as the archetypical pissed-off, disgruntled, embittered, fallen away onetime RC, I'll let you in on a secret  -- we don't listen to these pederast pedophile poohbahs, and when we do, we're guaranteed to do the exact opposite of what they advise, purely out of spite.  They have trouble enough commanding the loyalty of their benighted and put-upon flock when rendering unto God, so imagine how well they'll fare when misadvising the rest of us re rendering unto Caesar.

Yeah, my erstwhile, one-time coreligionists have a lot to answer for, in this world, and, if they're right and I'm wrong, in the next world as well.

If there is a God, and if, as He is so often reputed to be, just, these fellows  really are in for a unpleasnat surprise.

I think of it as just and condign punishment.

Better still, The Mother Of ALL Schdenfreude.

If the Catholic, or any other denomination's church can instruct their parishioners on how to cast a vote, they are into State functions.  If they want to participate in State functions, take away the tax-exempt status and let them pay fucking taxes like the rest of us.
This from the worlds largest lobbying organization for the legitimization of pedophilia. What a bunch of repulsive hypocrites.

Hell Yes I'm Feeling anti-Religious today.

The Church can't waterboard you anymore. I can agree with you Doc, but it's really up to Catholics to leave this twisted club.

The document does not recommend specific laws or candidates, and it emphasizes that "principled debate" is needed to decide which policies best promote the common good.

But "that does not make (moral issues) optional concerns or permit Catholics to dismiss or ignore church teaching," the bishops said.

Thw headline was written by the author of the article.......NOT THE CHURCH.

Their dogma is that any principled debate will come to precisely the conclusion that the Church has already stipulated. If it doesn't, the debate isn't principled. I've studied this. The Church generates a lot of verbiage whenever it makes a statement to obscure that this is always the case, but Bill, how can you miss this quote: "The direct and intentional destruction of innocent human life is always wrong and is not just one issue among many . . ."

That isn't principled debate. That's declaring debate is closed.

I don't agree with Doc that the Church should lose it's tax exempt status over this, but frankly, I'm with RWU about it not having tax exempt status to begin with.

to instruct or remind parishioners of their moral standards when selecting a candidate or deciding an issue? Specific candidates were not mentioned. From a “legal” perspective it’s no different than the “loop holes” that 501(c)(4) organizations use, such as moveon.org.

I'm actually opposed to tax exempt status, but not on these grounds.

Catholics are 99% para-Biblical ocultism and 1% Biblical-truth... However, I'd also like to see National Public Radio lose it's 501c3 status... And Rev. Jesse Jackass, and his rainbow-thug coalition, and tens of thousands of other NPO's that we could do without... the can pay taxes like the rest of you... (I don't pay any any more... Fuck the IRS!)
