However great the two party system might have been in the past it is no longer working because neither party wants to agree with the other party on important issues.  One party should be eliminated, and of course the party that has to go in the Democratic Party.  Democrats are chronic whiners and never seem to be satisfied. Democrats are somehow unable to see the big picture. They are constantly getting mired in superfluous technicalities like Constitution issues and civil liberties and therefore stand in the way of any real progress.

There is no need for two legislative bodies. It is cumbersome and a waste of money.  The House of Representatives is a disaster and should be eliminated.  The Senate should stay but only after a complete restructuring.  What is the justification for each state having two Senators?  Should an insignificant state like Rhode Island have the same amount of Senators as California?  Of course not:  Instead of having 100 Senators we only need 10 to get the job done.  The country should be divided up in 10 evenly divided sections and have one Senator represent each section.  Senators would be appointed by the President and serve at the pleasure of the President.

There is no justification whatsoever for having nine justices on the Supreme Court.  One Supreme Court Justice would do a better job.  He would be more efficient and adjudicate cases much faster than the system we now have. The Supreme Court Justice would be appointed by the President and serve at the pleasure of the President.  There would be no need for cumbersome nomination hearings.

Instead of wasting billions of dollars every four years on Presidential elections and have the country torn between two totally inept candidates, the Office of President should be for life unless the President decides to step down.  In that case the President would have the power to choose his successor.  The system of President for life has worked very well in other countries.  Haiti is a perfect example of how well President for life worked under the regime of Papa Doc Duvalier

I challenge anyone to come up with a better and more efficient system of government.

"Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."

(Sir Winston Churchill)
British politician (1874 - 1965)

I don't think the last 30+ years speaks well for all the abbreviated machinations brought to bear. In fact they seem to all be leading us to an Executive Branch oligarchy that cares only for them and the corporatocracy that put them in charge.

We have already lost much to Asset Forfeiture, unfettered wire tapping, continual elevations of gun control, loss of Habeus Corpus, manipulations of the Electoral College, a Presidency via Supreme Court vote, and unprecedented "Emergency Executive Powers".
Curiously your so called "wimp party" leading candidate hasn't mentioned thing one about giving any rights back to the people and/or rolling back the clock on all the "Emergency Powers".
I think the 'streamlining' of our government has gone more than far enough.

This was written as a joke? Right? Or do you really believe what you wrote in this post? Just curious.

but I'm sure that it will be recieved as such, by most of us at least. esponding to his actual post does not seem like a terribly productive use of time.Maybe JackO has the time to argue this out, point by point. lol
