Because, like it or not, that's what people on message boards do.  I don't really disagree with many of your points but I don't see any point in asking the question either.  A few months on just about any message board on the internet is all it takes to figure out that anonymity affords people the opportunity to treat folks in cyberspace in a way that they would never dream of doing face-to-face.
