Regardless of what location you are in, one step that would probably be helpful to you for future M&G events is reviews. They work to establish that you are a real hobbyist. Once you've had a reasonable number of experiences and very positive references from the ladies, you might find things a bit easier.

That is just my $.02 as a relative rookie myself, with a little sense of how things work. I'm not a M&G organizer, but I have an inkling of the trust and discretion issues which factor into M&G attendance. Good luck!
