the desert fiasco was a matter of desperate overreaching. In military operations, planning on most things working is as delusional as a businessman hoping most of his customers will pay on time.
Reagan buying out the Iranians was not particularly impressive, nor a display of balls or diplomatic skill. In fact, negotiating with them before taking office was somewhere between sleazy and treasonous.
