You're forgiven Geezer.

But you're not fast and loose with the facts, you just simply have no idea what you're talking about.  And when your facts are screwed, your intepreationa are skewed.

And in this group, you got lots of company.

I have been harsh with you this weekend.  But remember -- it's business, it's not persoanl.

As Xiaoming said, the sides keep on changing.  How about this from today's LA Times:

"U.S. officials and experts say that so many Al Qaeda fighters have shown up in Libya that the nation's leader, Moammar Kadafi, a new but valuable counter- terrorism ally of Washington, has launched a crackdown that has led to hundreds of arrests."

Wasn't Kadafi our worst enemy in the not-so-distant past?   Weren't their harsh cries for the military to "nuke his ass?"  Now he's our pal.  But like Xiaming pointed out... it's bound to change again and Kadafi will be someday be our new Sadaam.

NICE AND GOOD!!!!  The Gipper made a bold and daring attempt to kill Kadaffi in retaliation for that commercial jet being blown up and going down over Scotland.

Kadaffi has been afraid and well behaved ever since.    Kadaffi is so well behaved that after some major event happened in Iraq (It might have been the invasion phase ending or Saddam getting captured) Kadaffi made some kind of pledge or statement swearing not to get nukes?  or something like that.  Of course the democraps dismissed it and said it had nothing to do with the successful event in Iraq.

In summary, Kadaffi is well behaved because of RONALD REAGAN!!!!!  THE BEST PRESIDENT THE USA HAS EVER HAD!!!!

yeeeeeaaaaaaahhh THREE CHEERS FOR RONALD REAGAN!!  THREE CHEERS FOR RONALD REAGAN THREE CHEERS FOR RONALD REAGAN!!!

Your memory doth fail you.  Along with your "powers" of reasoning.  [Remember -- it's not personal; it's just business].

Reagan's attack on Colonel K/Libya was in April 1986, in response to the bombing of a disco in Germany frequented by off-duty US servicepersons.  You must remember, surely?  The perfidious, gutless, effette, cheese-eating, limp-wristed, surender-monkey French refused to permit US overflight of France to and fro that historic mission and were, predictably, kicked around and pilloried in the US media for weeks on end.  Well, that's not gonna ever happen again with our pal Nick Skorscky [spelling] as the French prez.

The jetliner explosion over Scotland to which you refer is Lockerbie, which occurred in late 1988, in the waning days of the Reagan [mal]administration.  Apparently, Colonel K wasn't terribly deterred, was he?

Well, the wheel will turn yet again, Colonel K will be our enemy, Iran will be our friend, the Pallys will continue to be bereft and hopeless [and hapless], the Sunnis and Shites will continue to kill each other, Israel will continue to occupy the West Bank, Afghanistan will receed into the background, etc...but we'll still be making ourselves mad worrying about chaos and instability in guess where.

And we'll continue to beat the whole topic into total exhaustion, bring to bear great heat but precious little light.

See ya in a couple of threads.

PS.  I'm walking around with a microcassette recorder these days, i'm trying to work out a satirical post, the premise of which will be a game show based on US foreign policy in the ME.  An ambitous concept, to be sure, and i'm not sure I'm the guy to pull it off [pulling off other things, yes, but that's a topic  for the General discussion Board].  But with you and like-minded posters as my muse, well, time will tell...

Colonel Khadafi has a firmer conceptual grasp on the problems illegal immigration presents for Libya than Dubya does re illegal immigration's impact on the US.

Does the less-than-optimal news ever stop rolling in?
