Is this a particularly annoying issue in Toronto? I rarely get asked for references in my part of Canada, usually just provide the names of a couple of agencies upfront at the time of enquiry, never had a problem that way.
I understand the frustration with independent SPs vs. agencies, usually more hassle and more expensive. The independents's service tends be lower - checking their phones in-session, and so on - and drops when they leave an agency and go independent. I find myself tending to agencies.These ladies are too much into the "reference check". Its highly intrusive and a waste of time. These girls are so entitled, right at the last minute they cancel an appointment without any regard for the client, constantly with their flaking and double bookings.
My advice for men is don't bother with a lady who calls herself an independent. There are many great agencies that allow a person to book without jumping through hoops.
My advice for the women, why don't these entitled girls simply take the time to meet the guy in some coffee shop or something. If his appointment is at 3:00, just tell him to meet at 1:00 for coffee, and do all the reference checking the woman wants.
Its common sense to make a client feel happy, and all the reference checking is like a paranoid prison system, and a complete turn-off. Most of the people who post here can't even string a proper sentence together, so I guess this message falls on deaf years.
