so perhaps they are getting used to it and expect that to be the new norm. To me, its disconcerting.

Just previously VERY utr....

I'm learning some interesting things while experimenting with devoloping a web presence...

I am recieving far more calls than I can handle these days (not at all a negative), but there seems to be a recurring theme.
I am now constantly facing "negotiation" attempts regarding my screening methods...I find this a bit odd considering how many gentlemen publically announce their refusal to see a lady who doesn't screen....

A particular telephone call today (from a gentleman claiming to have found me via TER) prompts my questions....

Why would anyone (who reads these boards) insist that a first name and pre-paid cell # are all that's needed for a screening?

Maybe they think the rules don't apply to them, or maybe no one else has conducted any type of screening on them. It's a classic case of thinking with the small head.

that information along with references is what I would prefer to provide.  It is usually sufficient, but some providers ask for more, commonly a last name.  I'm always a bit hesitant because my first and last names are uncommon enough that it is close to unique.  On occasion, the unfortunate can happen and one's name can end up in the wrong hands as we have heard of recently in Phoenix.  John Smith with a disposable phone is protected by his common name, I would not be.

I still provide it when I feel comfortable with a provide, but I prefer not to.  When I was just starting I more commonly did have to provide full name and work info.

If someone thinks they can get by with just a first name and number, you're doing just fine by explaining to them that you require more info and hanging up if they want to argue.  Whatever you require, you deserve respect for your choice.  If someone doesn't feel comfortable with what you require, they should see someone else.

The main issue was that ALL he was willing to offer for screening were those 2 little, insufficient, and completely useless bits of info....

My screening process can be pretty flexible, but with or without references you're going to have to give up some pretty personal information!(your name had better match the residential addres you give me)

I never had any troubles with this previously, and all of the sudden it's become a frequent obstacle.

This particular caller was just so insistant that he got me thinking about it too much.  :)
