or should private message hobbiest when looking at the reviews. Not only for the referal but for safty from getting cought.
I have a hard time asking a client to give me a review because I know that some guys just don't want to for whatever reason, so I don't know how I could possibly ask them to be a reference. I would be surprised if any agreed anyway, I protect the privacy of my clients - it's good biz.

I ask guys after the session how they heard about me (friend referrel or review site) and if they tell me TER, I joke about how I don't have VIP access and wonder what is being said about me and then often I will either get an email from that client with all my reviews down or he will write me what he wrote in a review so that I would know that he wrote a good one
what gets me if how my clients can get upset with me when the contact another provider and that provider wants a reference from me and these clients don't bother to warn me that they are doing this. When I get the letter, I won't respond to the provider until I get permission from the client b/c in the back of my mind I am wondering if my clients wife found something on his computer and is building a case against him for their divorce.
i think that's an excellent response to the situation. i would say it is the best one can do based upon what one knows and does not know. sadly it isn't so unusual of a thing in life, is it? - looking-out for another's well-being and them not realizing that you are - i think this often happens because a great many people tend to be reckless with their well-being in the course of attempting to attain whatever it is they are desiring. additionally, it is simply poor basic ettiquette to arrange any kind of correspondence between people without first making sure any such arrangement is acceptable to all persons involved. essentially, i'd say people are at fault in the context of basic social-responsibility to be upset with you in such a situation. i see you as doing the best you can do for people in such a situation, whether they care to recognize it or not.
