I don't think there is a best bet. The best bet is to research the woman you're interested in seeing - both indie or agency.

Agencies generally have a 60/40 split in favor of the girl. Some take half. Anything you give separately is a tip.

Is an agency the best bet for a first timer?
It just seems like they would be more reputable and maybe safer for a newbie, but maybe a little more expensive as well.

Also...if the agency charges say $150 per hour, does the lady get a cut of that, or do I need to pay her seperately as well?

Thanks for your insight.

that you can use such as Preferred411, Date check, and RS2000.  Independent ladies are my preferred way to go.

Agencies sometimes take as much as 50-60% off the top.  This is one of the reasons agency ladies will often try to upsell or "haggle" for a tip.  I usually tip them because I know there share is less than what I'm paying.

I chose not to go the agency route, and I have been more than happy seeing independent SPs. I did join a verification site to get started (i.e preferred411, datecheck, etc.) and it has worked out great for me. Even though I am now past the "no references" barrier I still find the verification service is helpful to be screened quickly and easily by SPs I haven't seen before.

But many members of this and other boards use and even prefer agencies, so I wont say they don't have merit. I simply have no need for them.

It tends to be easier to get verified with an agency. That would be one reason to go with an agency.

My personal preference is for the independents.
