I would recommend that you get a separate attorney, if you cannot find a good criminal attorney who is also a good family law attorney.  Oftentimes you may get a good referral to a good attorney who is good in criminal law but not very competent in family law, or vice versa.  However, alot of times, you will find attorneys that do both criminal defense work and family law cases.
I do believe that you need a good criminal defense attorney and you need to make sure that you get your neighbors to write down exactly what happened while their memory is still fresh.  You cannot defend of the police to accurately record your neighbors statements or even take their statements, if they are exculpatory.  If in fact you did not have any contact with you ex-wife, then you do not want to enter into any type of plea bargain. A conviction for a domestic violence assault or any type of domestic violence offense can be very damaging to your ability to obtain custody of your child.  A good attorney should be able to assist you in resolving your criminal case.

This past Friday I had an incident where I was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery against my ex-wife.  she came back to my house after 4 hours of our confrontation and had me charged.  However I do have 3 neighbors who saw the incident and can verify I never laid a hand one her.  But as of now I need and attorney to defend against this and I am also look to go for custdoy of my son.  Can anyone reccomend a good attorney.  You can also PM me.  Do I use one attorney and shoud it be a Family Law specialist or do I look for a two seperate Lawyers a criminal attorney and a family law attorney.

I would go for two attorneys. Very few Criminal Law Attys are experts at Family Law and vice versa.

If you let me know what state you are in, I may be able to give you a couple of names from our legal network group...our office handles tax matters, so we can't help out in this regard.

Good luck,

TM

P.S. Do not PM as I am not a VIP memeber.

Criminal law and family law are two very different fields.  There are some lawyers who do both, but your best bet is to look for two different people.  If a lawyer you speak with turns you down, you might want to ask whether he or she knows anyone who works in both fields.

Also, if you want referrals you should tell us roughly where you live.

one should be enougth But it dends on it goes It you do not do it and you wetnees  It be dismissed

If the facts are as you indicate..a good defense attorney with experience know his way around the system and should be able to help you..He would review the police report..as you must have been arrested for this. Find someone with good experience..

This may be prosecuted by the DA or that office may simply leave it to the family law court.  Any scenario will require the family law lawyer, for the custody if nothing else.  Have a family law persono talk with the Deputy D.A., read the police report, ask for a continuance at the arraignment and see what the DDA is willing to do.

Hey, dude. It may really not make a difference. As I work in this field I can tell you; (1)save your money. An attorney will not make the difference, (2) you are guilty until proven innocent, and you won't be. Unfortunately, it's a "he said, she said..." kind of thing to the courts and, to the best of my knowledge (12 years exp.) I have never seen any man written up by police report absolved of heresay charges...ever. Take a deep breath, hope for a plea down, and get ready to go to classes (52 weeks)if you are lucky.

perhaps you needed a better attorney.  I would note that a few months ago, the U.S. Supreme Court dealt a major blow to the prosecutors in Washington v. Crawford.  Heresay that used to be admissible is no longer admissible, since a criminal defendant has the contitutional right to confront his/her accusers.  Furthermore, I have seen plenty of people get their domestic violence cases dismissed or get acquitted by juries.
