END OF MESSAGE

Hi everybody!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday (and by the time some of you read this, your weekend) thus far. Currently your buddy SportsAdmin is all alone in the TER offices and so I'm going to take it upon myself to take a small break from reviews and board posts and feedbacks and whatnot, to talk about the Olympics a little.

I'll admit, I do have ulterior motives:

1. I'd like to know if you lovely people would be interested in any competitions - the ideas that immediately come to mind are guesses for the USA's total medal count with the closest getting a prize, as well as some specific events (the men's 100m is an obvious one but I'm very option to suggestions), but I'd love to hear your thoughts

2. What are you guys excited to watch? The only real must-see for me is the rugby sevens (long time sports board dwellers will know I happen to like rugby a fair bit), but I will more than likely drop in on a few of the combat sports (hello there judo, I see you taekwondo, boxing, buddy, how's it going?) as well as the premier track and field events. If you've got any hot tips for sports to see, let us know!

3. Bold predictions and hot takes! Who's your pick to take gold in [insert event of choice]? How many Russian track and field athletes will compete as neutrals? What underdog is going to shock the world, be it individual, team or nation? I know we have some gamblers in our midst, does anyone have a hot tip? Brazil is currently in the middle of some significant problems (and let's keep the seriously heavy duty stuff to the politics board please everybody), but will they rear their head?

I might sound like a broken record on this, and I'm sorry, but I would implore you all to give the rugby sevens a shot (so called as this version is 7 players per team, as opposed to the usual 15). Football fans, you'll figure out what's going on very quickly, the games are only 14 minutes long total, and the US has quite the team (I'm not sure if Carlin Isles is still in the US team, but good grief. If you have never seen this man, spend 5 minutes on youtube)! Fast paced, hard hitting action in bitesized chunks (and ladies, I'm reliably informed by your gender that your average rugby player is quite easy on the eyes) featuring men and women that defy all normal rules of biology, and for the sake of a quarter of an hour, isn't it worth a shot?

Looking forward to hearing from you all
