Evening all -

I've been holding an internal celebration, and thought I should invite you to it as well - my first TER review has been posted by a most wonderful gentleman.  :-)

I've been very grateful to find all the great info on this site to date, and most glad I came across this community.

Yep, I'm simply tickled pink with all of it . . .

Your first review is so wonderfully written, also by someone who is writing their very first review! I swear I read the review 3 times and I am not trying to be rude... but was this written by a man or a woman?

Um . . . he's definitely an XY combo.

But thanks for the bubble burst.  ;-)

I think you should know that there is a possibility that your first review will not be overwhelmingly accepted by veteran hobbyists.

Again nothing personal here but please realize that for many guys a first time review of a lady by a first time reviewer is oft times dismissed with a degree of doubt or at a minimum accepted with extreme caution.  By no means does this suggest that the review is less than legitimate but many guys have been burned in the past and rely upon a good review history submitted by seasoned hobbyists.  Some guys will also zero in on specific aspects of the review and focus in on suspect or questionable comments.  For example, your gent seems to suggest in his first sentences that he has seen many ladies over the years which seems contrary to a first time reviewer. Again, this does not mean there is anything wrong at all as I can attest that I played in this biz for well over a year before I posted my first review.  He may also be a veteran reviewer on other boards and this is simply his first TER review.  So again I say this strictly as a way of sharing advice; just understand that some guys might read the review and raise their own red flags of doubt/concern.

It is hard for both new ladies and new gents to get a solid established reputation in this biz.  Sort of reminds me of getting a first job.  How does one get experience without getting a first job and how does one get a first job without having experience?

In any case I do offer sincere congrats on breaking the ice.  I'm not posting to bum you out but just to perhaps warn you that while this is a good start, it is also a tricky one too.  I'm hopeful that you will soon have several more additions to your history and that the authors will represent gents who have several other reviews.

Be patient LaraElise and best of luck...

Dampen away.

I'm a professional, in both my W-2 life and this one.  I'm a newbie on this board, but in neither of those.  I asked a client I knew spent time on here to post a review as I've received a couple of 'are you legit' contacts from the regional board posts I've made, and thought I'd make an effort to alleviate those concerns.  Also thought it exceptionally nice that he did so.

I won't make that particular effort again.  Sorry if I sound cranky, but I am.  My internal momma bear is rather raw from the events of today - I just held my dog a couple of hours ago while he was euthanized, I negotiated a couple of major work crises, I'm awaiting the latest outcome of a friend's level IV cancer testing, and I have a little snarking on the content (and gender, no less) of a review posted on me.  All good times.

So please take it at face value.  Or don't; everyone, as in all things, has their own prerogative.

...and also sorry if I inadvertantly made a tough day get worse.  As I wrote in my reply my intent was not a personal critique but one that was only meant to share information that perhaps you did not know.

As you yourself have mentioned in your reply, providers with new profiles and little to no review history will frequenty encounter the 'are you legit?' question.  My post was an attempt to simply point out that the unique aspect of your review (your first, his first) may not alleviate the doubts of your curious suitors.

My comments had nothing to do with my own opinion, the veracity of the review or your professionalism. But when people post on a Newbie board then a reasonable assumption is that they are new to the biz as well as to TER.  At the end this is nothing but a discussion board where sometimes information shared can be of use to a reader. I was doing nothing more than pointing out the reality that fair or not; those that seem new to the hobby, as seen by others in either new profiles or new posted reviews, will be greeted with a healthy amount of caution.

Perhaps you knew that or perhaps you did not.  I just tried to cover the bases...

L,
Congrads on the review.  A single review is a start...  others will follow...

So sorry on the loss of your pet.  I lost one just a year ago and I remain heartbroken.
