This is one for the fellas, but if any providers have any insight, I would welcome that as well.

I don't really know how to ask this so I'll just come out and say it....

I'm afraid to fully shave my boys.  I've trimmed the hair down there with scissors, but I just don't know how to actually shave them.  And, as you can imagine, nicking my 'nads is most likely much worse than nicking my chin.

So, how do I do it?  What is the technique?  I guess I'm trying to make my genital area more "user friendly" for future dates.  Please help!!

dude......just like going to a barber,,I would suggest you make the query to a provider that you feel comfortable with and pay the extra..nice way to work into some play time. Again,,,make sure you paid her well the time before...ie..razor in a precarious spot..see dwayne bobbit

Edge Shaving cream & a safety razor....I was apprehensive at first, but now I get compliments on my smoothness:)

I too was scared. And I too started off just trimming. I actually nicked myself with the scissors once, not cool. However, for the last several months I have been shaving them, and it is much easier that I thought, and much easier than using scissors. Just get a good safety razor, lather up, and go for it. I always do it in the shower. So far no problems at all, and the girls really do seem to like it.

First, trim as close as you can with scissors or a beard trimmer, and get all the way around to the backside. I use a trimmer set on #2. Then, get a BRAND NEW razor. This is going to take some balls on the first try. (Pun intended) Lather up, but make it a very thin film, otherwise you won't be able to see what's already very difficult to see. Use short, upward strokes from as far around back as you can reach all the way up the shaft. I usually have to repeat lathering up a couple of times to get them nice and smooth. A little baby oil afterwards helps with the itch.

When I asked this question, someone told me to do it in the shower. Not a good idea if you wear glasses. Needless to say, I didn't take his advice. Good Luck.

Very gently with a new razor. Lather up well, and repeat several times. Don't try to get them smooth in the first go around.
I have never nicked myself, but I would not schedule an appointment on shaving day, just in case.
Maintaining every 2 or 3 weeks makes it easier.

I nicked myself the evening before the day of the appointment and had to cancel. Luckily it was with my ATF, and though I'm not certain she believed me, she accepted my explanation. But, it was so embarrasing.

That's one big bloody ouchie.

I'm making due with a pair of cuticle sissors myself now, but I wish I felt more confident to get a nice smooth sac.

I was scared the first time too.  I trimmed with a Norelco Body Groomer, then used Edge and a Fusion 4-bladed razor.  Have not nicked once, and actually got a compliment on how soft the skin on the boys was.

After a few times, it gets easier.  Good luck.

There are electric trimmers and shavers out there for men & women on those sensitive parts. I tried razors before I purchased a shaver and now I prefer the shaver, less danger. The ladies would definitely appreciate your effort to make it more "user friendly".

Just joking.

Hair conditioner works well and doesn't obsure the crooks and nannies.  Stretch the sack to make it flat and easier to shave.  Shave WITH the growth first, then against the growth.  Try not to go over the same spot too many times or your skin will become irritated.  Use very light pressure.

I do mine in the shower with lots of shaving cream and a safety razor. Not a problem. I am still trying to figure how how to do my ass crack as suggested in an earlier post by a provider. That is one to be worried about. :)

I thought it was just a inside joke, but after so many posts I realize, some guys actually have hair on their balls ...

Neutrogena shaving cream and Schick Quattro Titanium do it for me.  Always use a fresh blade, rinse with peroxide (both the blade during and the whole area afterward), and throw the blade away when you are finished.  It's difficult to nick yourself with with this razor, so if you are careful, you should be okay.  A drink or two may give you the courage and lessen your inhibitions to try.  Well worth the effort in the end...the ladies will reward you for it...

If you've got hair on your tool, please don't shave it- just trim it. And if you're gonna shave, please make sure it's smooth- it doesn't feel good having my face pressing against prickliness (same goes for your face).

Stretch the boys out if you wanna shave 'em. We ladies nick ourselves sometimes. You'll survive ;)

I had to laugh at the "You'll survive" comment!  I was thinking the same thing :D  It's not the end of the world.  You won't bleed to death or need stitches ;)

Attacking my boys with a sharp object is as contrary to my common sense as walking into a hotel with a half dozen squad cars with flashing lights parked out front...

I prefer a close trim with a beard trimmer set on closest setting.  I've tried many, but my fav is a norelco available at Bed Bath & Beyond for about $30.  Also works great on the face when I wear a beard....

I ran out and bought one after seeing it advertised.  Didn't work so well for me.  There are some teeth at the edge of the shaving screen that can catch on loose skin.  Quite painful.  Overall, it just didn't do a good/clean/comfortable job on my balls.  I've since gone back to high quality cream (arbonne) and a new razor blade.

I imagine it might work better for the ladies.

Yeah but you have to admit that philips site is hilarious!  I just use a regular razor and shave in a shower.  If women can shave, I'm sure men can too, lol.

The video is hilarious...

What's less funny, is how after an accident, every time one gets excited, it adds injury to the insult.

All kidding aside, I've suspect trimmer efficacy to be a function of how well it is matched to the individual's hair characteristics.  I've probably tried 10-20 different units over the years.

Okay, a very closely related follow-up question for the ladies...

Guys who have the boys shaved? Like it or not?

Hilarious marketing. But I wasn't talking about nose and ears! :-)

Before today, I've only ever gotten one female opinion on the matter, and that coming from a lady that doesn't shave that region herself. So I figured I guess I'd ask people who see and experience a variety of body and hair scenarios.

So I guess, yeah, I did have to ask. It is the newbie board....

and the bodygroom guy will answer all your questions.  They have a music video and everything.  It's hysterical.

since I started shaving, I've gotten much better attention, and many approving comments from the ladies.

I never use men's shaving cream or gel.  Menthol shave cream on the doo-dads is a definite no-no. I always use "Skintimate" or some other womens shave gel. The baby oil in it holds irritation to a minimum.
