I ran into Rose at a restaurant in L.A. It was very early for...

Been wondering for a bit, what are your thoughts on Pete not getting into the HOF?

The man negotiated and agreed to his ban.  For once he should show he is a man of his word.

He has been banned from MLB and lost every appeal.

I believe rightly so.

In baseball, there are two ways for a batted ball to be out-of-bounds. If a ball is hit between the foul lines and exits the field of play, it is a home run, at the batter and teammates who are on base run to home plat and score a point for their team. If the ball is hit outside the foul lines (such as to the side or behind the batter), it is a foul ball, and is equivalent to a strike. The foul ball bounds do not apply to fielders, who are allowed to try to catch a foul ball, which would put the batter out. While the rules of baseball define the angle of the foul lines, there are no set rules as to how large a field should be, and it varies from baseball field to baseball field.

I agree that he is banned from baseball; lost every appeal, and probably will never get into the Hall-of-Fame.  I am just stating that if I was allowed to vote, Pete Rose would be one of my (up to) 10 selections.

He blew her off for an autograph in 85-I could bag that one-He came into a Tampa restaurant in the 90's with a 20 something and passed our table-My mom, who was a very sweet person and in her 80's at the time,  said in a friendly manner   "Are you Pete Rose?"
"Yes," he replied curtly, 'Now leave me alone.''
Rose also had an outside child in Tampa whom he paid little attention to.
I have no use for Pete Rose and consider him to be an effen ass hole-
He was a great competitor and a great hitter-
I'd like to see him in the Hall of Fame-the day after he dies.
He's in the position he's in because he is an ass hole who broke the rules-tuff noogies.  1rob...no sympathy here...out  8-

He looked like a miserable fuck, pissed off at the world so when you saw him, it was Petey being Petey.....but he does deserve to be in, even though he's a fuck.

I grew up in the Ohio Valley area and got to see lots and lots of Pete in my youth. Great player who gave his all on every play, trainwreck as a human being, probably used ped's if he was able to get his hands on them, would do anything to gain an edge over an opponent, was a big time gambler dating all the way back to the 70's, I could go on and on. I met George Brett several years ago and asked him his take on the situation. He didn't really offer an opinion but said, "In every locker room of every major league team, there's a great big sign that reads, "Gambling is prohibited by the Commissioner of Baseball." I'm paraphrasing, but as George said, he knew what he was doing. It's a shame though because there are numerous guys in the Hall that were bigger assholes than Pete.

Beat your wife? No problem.

Use a corked bat? Come on in.

Doctor the baseball? All good.

PED's? Who cares.

Cocaine addict? Your table is waiting.

But have a gambling problem and bet ON your team?

Oh no! That's where we draw the line. For life!

It's a joke.
