After a Sunday game, most of these guys can barely walk by Wednesday and are still recovering from the pounding they took by Thursday. Now you are asking them to go out and play again?  The quality of play on Thursday nights is generally not great. And with good reason. Now the NFL for the most part schedules divisional games on Thursday nights so the familiarity of opponent can quicken the practice time/preparation. But still its just not enough time to adequately prepare (both in game planning and injury recovery). And again it shows in the quality of play.

We all know the NFL is a billion dollar business which views players as fungible commodities. If they really cared about player safety (they don't), the NFL would never (except on Thanksgiving which is so traditional it will never be changed) schedule Thursday games. But they want to capitalize on football's immense (which may be an understatement) popularity. If Roger could figure out how to play games on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, he would. Heck, the NFL wants to go to an 18 game season (and not give the players any more money).  Most of these guys can barely make it through 16 games. As I've said many times, its a sport of attrition. The winning teams have stayed relatively healthy at key positions.

I think Thursday night football, every week, is an overkill. But I'm like the next diehard football fan. Of course I tune in. But if the only Thursday games scheduled all year were on Thanksgiving, I'd be completely fine with it.

I say yes.

It should only be a few games a year not every week. this week's snooze-fest is a perfect example.

NFL has been raking in mucho in the last few years and is on the way to making more comparing to any sports-related business. Now all TNF games in on cable so real fans will have to subscribe to watch it. It's a trial and error deal for NFL to risk for better profit. Just my $0.02

That would be my suggestion.  Have the Thursday night game be between two teams that had a bye the week before.
