I've worked in Germany myself at Sudfas Sauna, so I do know it's legal there. They did ask me for my working paper when I got there and told me I was not allowed to work without them. So, I explained to them that I was American and I didn't know I needed them, they understood and only left me work because I was there over Easter. I tried to work in Amsterdam, but couldn't because of the same problem!
