I've been reading on some of the other boards where the local providers are considering having a provider check-in service, similar to what an agency girl does when she arrives at the client's hotel.

The phone call could go something like this (in front of the client): "Hi, this is Chrissy Stone. It's now 8:00 pm and I'm here with Jason at The Phoenician in room 342. We'll be meeting about one hour."

I might then tell Jason that I'll be expected to call back later (which may or may not be true).

This way, there is no client ID information needed,no data base, no "Big Brother" for the clients to worry about.

That sounds like a much better Idea than "the other Idea".

Would be fairly easy to set up. All that would be needed is a phone number that could be forwarded, and an agreement to work certain shifts. Then whoever was on the phone would forward it to the next person for the next shift.

Obviously, there would have to be a certain amount of coordination of volunteers, schedules, etc. to make this work.

Sometimes I'll just leave myself a voicemail with the info if I feel like there might be need for that.

I think any idea to curb the threat of violence is a good one.  I don't think a check-in would be as effective as it would need to be.  If jason (your example) roughs you up, what recourse do you have on him besides getting to your senses and calling the "check-in" number? If jason happens to be a regular hobbyist and has seen other reputable providers, maybe all you would need is a reference name/id to associate with jason.

What about a database that allows providers to assign a nickname or code to a hobbyist. No full name, phone, address, DL#, etc. would be needed if the guy has already been "cleared" by another provider and given that nickname/code.  The hobbyist would have to use this same name/number if he wanted to see any of the providers in the "network".  Lol, gives new meaning to PPO (Preferred Provider Network). The providers could also have a way to comment on the guy (demeanor, attitude, whatever) and look up other providers comments as well.  The trick is getting that first encounter ok'd.  And that is where the problem lies. To have 100% recourse and provider safety, you have to give up some personal info.

I hear there was a group starting up a client referral service for independent providers.  I understand they had a set back because a certain agency did not want them operating.  It sounded like a good idea.  Maybe someone can bring us up to date.

I understand what you mean, Flyball, there is definatley alot of flaws to get "Ironed out" before anything got started. However as long as the girls continue to screen the way they always have, the check in service only really needs to be for the providers. If someone knows where they are going, and they don't call back in a sufficiant time, then at least someone would know where to look for them and have some sort of lead to go by, if something did happen...
I really think since this is such a "public board" when people do start getting serious with how they want to handle this issue it should be more back channeled though... (We never know who is watching or trying to involve themselves)

A grass roots association by the ladies  for the ladies makes sense.   Sort of an extended buddy system.   There is some deterrent value with  a client seeing  a provider check in and knowing that there will be a check out. Plus if there is no check out  the buddy can call and check on the provider and take action if needed.  It will require some work and organization but may offer an alternative to increase safety.  Be sure those involved are reliable as someone could end up with the Mounties riding to their rescue if they forget to check in,  or have their cell phone turned off.   Good luck if try to get this going!!

I think that is a workable idea, Im not opposed to safety and even screening as long as its consensual what this group isnt consensual by a long shot.

Heck isnt SAFE SANE CONSENSUAL part of the bdsm crowds mantra? i think it should be ours as a group also.

Yesterday I talked with a client 6 times, before his reference checked out, I was not going to see him until I felt asolutly certain that he was safe to meet. Yes, I have lost business, but no $$$ will ever be worth risking my life or wellbeing of my mental health.  Hobbiests/clients are realizing we are doing this to protect ourselves and they are now more then willing to go out of their own way to reveal themselves. If all providers check out their clients , soon no one will be able to see any of us, until they allow themselves to trust US and business will pick back up! I am very certain this is a way of our future in the business anyway and I truly love feeling safe and sure before I meet someone for the first time!  Maybe we should inform one trusted person in our lives where we are going and who we are seeing. Maybe we should all carry a zapper and spray too..A check-in service may be a good idea, but do we really need it? If we can trace e-mails and id-blocked calls (I never answer those)than what level of protection can the check-in service really offer.  Love and light to the victims!
Be safe everyone and have a great week! Starina
