The FBI is claiming there has been a 20 year period of corruption, bribery and rigged elections in football.

No shit.

You could have worked that out when it was announced that the 2018 and 2022 World Cups would be voted on and awarded at the same event - it's not hard to envision a scenario where one candidate for 2018 votes for a 2022 candidate in return for the reverse to happen - and that Qatar, a country with no footballing history or pedigree was awarded the 2018 competition, a country where it is literally too hot to play football during the northern hemisphere's summer.

The most remarkable things about these developments though are that, thus far, Sepp Blatter (the president of FIFA) has seemingly avoided being arrested, and that the 2022 World Cup in Russia will remain in Russia. Qatar won't change; too many stadia have been built, the timeframe is too short and it would be even more catastrophic than events are currently if it was to be taken from Qatar, but the 2022 World Cup (currently) staying in Russia is amazing to me, especially given its recent invasion of Ukraine and its laws regarding homophobia.

Frankly, if this gets Sepp Blatter out of FIFA, or better still, behind bars, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving scumbag. This after all is the person who said more people would watch women's football if they wore shorter shorts.

Roger Goodell looks like a living legend compared to this piece of shit.
