just operate under the assumption that you're going to get something and then be glad you didn't, if you don't.

I hate this whole argument that you're just as unsafe with a civilian.  it seems to be a way to deflect the question away from it's original premise.

it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.  Just because you have a risk with a civilian, doesn't decrese the chance that a provider doesn't have one.  If anything, testing regularly or not, if it's not being disclosed by the provider, and tests can't accurately show results for 5 months or so, then the risk is still probably higher with a provider.  Especially if you're not hooking up with civilians regularly and you may someday want to.  Who wants to disclose the STD when that happens?

Ultimately, know there is a risk, and then assume the worst, and if you're still okay with it, do it.  If you don't think you can handle it, find a diff't hobby.

How does a first time newbie make sure that his selection does not have any STD's? Is it as simple as asking the question?

If you are looking for a guarantee then you are in the wrong hobby. There is no way to be sure. And as for asking....I doubt that would be a very good decision. It would probably be offensive to quality providors.

The only thing you can do is see well-reviewed ladies. Most good ladies will care about their health and hygiene. There is always a risk either way. Just be smart and clean yourself and take decide what level of risk you want to take. If you are really concerned, use a cover for everything and don't kiss the girls. How much risk to take is ultimately up to you and your date. Hobby safe!

Thanks mafishman1. That is why I asked because I thought it might be offensive to some. I guess the reviews is the key. Like you said, there is always a risk. Is there any particular act that you would not recommend me participating in. I like k9, cowgirl, and greek. Wow! I have learned some acronyms.

Just make sure to use your head (the one on top) to make smart decisions. Outside of BBBJ and DATY (look them up if you don't know, there is a guide here), use a cover for everything. Otherwise you will have to determine what you consider doing. Also, perhaps the best advice I can give is to ask your doctor what type of activities are safer than others, etc. Just treat it the same as if you met a sexually active girl at a bar. Have fun, but be cautious and smart. Good luck and don't forget to post reviews!

Do a search on the Newbie boards here for posts regarding STD's. It is a very frequently discussed topic so there are probably some other opinions/viewpoints/advice that might be helpful out there.

Boy am I glad You answered that b4 I got here. It was quite depersonalized I thought as in  "his selection". We, as the woman of this hobby for the most part, are your safest bet to NSA sex. To pick upa Lady in some bar, what are the chances she has been tested. For that matter...I would be willing to bet, the original poster has never been tested.
This is my profession and I am quite careful to take care of myself in every way. I am tested regularly and often. If you are so certain you may be at risk here in this hobby...you may want to find another hobby. After all it's not for everyone.
