Life can be confusing when you're a kid.  I have many similar memories.  I read like crazy to figure it all out.  Still do.

Now my questions are much more complex and the answers are impossible to find.  I'm talking about humanity.  Maybe there are no real answers.

Thanks for your post.  It got a smile out of me.  The innocence of childhood.  Simple questions, simple answers.

One thing hasn't changed, though.  I still am so horny!  lol.

Just reading some of the posts here got me to musing about my own childhood and how little we are taught about sexual matters. As a teenager, I used to wake up with the greatest hard-ons. I always just assumed it was a sign that I really needed to go to the bathroom. It would have been nice if somwhere along the line someone had told me "this is a good thing; it means you are functioning normally." I remember a friend and I speculating about the sex act. My God, we were so off-base! Then, along about the age of 12, I woke up every few mornings with nocturnal emissions. I had NO clue what was happening. I probably felt ashamed about it, and associated it with bedwetting. I wish someone had told me "Great, my boy! This is perfectly normal; now get out there and find someone to f---!" Of course, I did eventually figure these things out. And when I wake up with a hard-on at the the age of 51, I feel like doing a little celebratory dance. And wet dreams? Haven't had one since I was 15, which is when I finally figured out where the gooey stuff "came" from. Well, happy holidays everyone.

How cute to see you dance, amolatinas;-)

Sex education in schools seems to be a moot point these days. Why? Because now, we have the blessed Internet. My Godchild who is 16 and goes to a quality prep school in Northern California has had some very good sex ed - although his 'awesome' and 'rad' moves come from downloading massive amounts of porn. He proudly announced last fall that he was the only kid in his class who had received a BBBJ from a class mate. Apparently she was very, very good, almost like [insert name of porn star here,] because she too had been instructed by various visual aids piped straight into her room via 'pornsite dot net.' These kids have known for a long time where the "gooey stuff" comes from, and they are completely unfazed by anything that would have puzzled us in the early 70s. The question is, are we doling out too much information? Is there nothing more for these kids to discover, unless we are talking about the frustrating realization that they're not Rocco Siffredi or Jenna Jameson after all?

As a middle-aged sex educator, I wonder if we weren't better off discovering sex at our own pace. Granted, there were frustrations along the way, but we didn't compete against something cyborgian and digitized. I may be romanticizing things, but fumbling for someone's pecker under the sheets in the dark seems a lot less pressure-laden than being 14 and encouraged to serve up a bleached butt to a 15 year old kid who thinks he has to jackhammer it like the newest fuckbuddy from Vivid Video.

I believe that if we stay open as individuals throughout our lifetime, we will always discover new things about ourselves, even sexually. That's why we have this wonderful board, where we can share our findings, good or bad. And with that, I too wish you a Happy New Year - filled with lots of sex, love and rock'n'roll!

Did we say 1973?

LG,

If you have published or ever do publish a book, please give us a heads up. You probably can't give us the title (or author's name), but just knowing to search for it will suffice. Easy to find, with persistence, because it would be the best written,  smartest, most entertaining and empathetic book on the shelf.

Happy New Year 2007.

My folks could never bring themselves to discuss "it" with me.  Mom would just say "No!  Star Trek's on!  Go watch TV!"  And one night while I was dishing up my dinner, Dad turned to me, his mouth full, his face red, "You ever get a girl pregnant, you're outta here!"  Geez.  I think I was 14 or 15 at the time and was still under the impression that a guy could get a girl could get pregnant by kissing her.  No wonder why I thought the first bit of porn I saw, a picture in print, was done with trick photography.
