Generally, if the lady is 'established' and without issues, you should have no problem at all getting a reference from her after the first visit, provided of course you were a gentleman! Especially if she is a member of Preferred 411, she should be more than happy to validate you there. You can politely ask the lady as you are leaving, or send her a nice email the next day thanking her for a wonderful time and ask her then.
Agencies are tough, some are great with references, but many just do not want to be bothered.
I saw a post on the general board, but as I'm still a newbie wanted to ask here, what the general etiquette is about securing these. I've got my first encounter *tentatively* scheduled next week. It's been relatively hard to get into this hobby; although I was screened by p411, I found out that some providers do not take the "basic" level, and want the "preferred" which requires another provider to certify you online!
When is it appropriate to ask? After 'x' visits? One post said that providers reacted negatively to requests and that it's best to say you've changed jobs and are looking in a different area... However, I may want to go back, but honestly I also want to clear this newbie/virgin status; I want more flexibility/options.
Do Agencies provide referrals? Do I ask the lady or the person scheduling the encounter? If I see two ladies in the same agency, can I count that as 2 referrences or is it still one b/c it's an agency?
Again, I appreciate the need for this type of system; I just want to get past it so I can enjoy the hobby. Thanks for your time and advice!

I am more than happy to give a reference to a gent after just one session. If there were no issues, you have a thumbs up from me. If a lady requires references for screening, I'm sure she would be willing to provide one for you when you want to see someone else.
I think the best time to ask is the next day, just like Wild Turkay said. I also like when a guy lets me know that someone may be checking his reference with me soon. If we have not had a visit in awhile, it's good to give a head's up when you are using me as a reference. It just makes it easier for me to remember you.

Funny thing, I'd called a provider a couple of times this week, finally now that I have my p411, I called her back, and she made an apt for me this time without asking for my p411 info etc. I asked her why and she laughed and told me after the 3rd call, it was pretty obvious I was a newbie!
Anyway, hopefully soon, I may post on the General board 
p411 will still serve you well, as it makes verification for future visits that much easier on your SP. After awhile, as you build a few more references, it becomes less necessary (but still quite helpful from time to time). A big advantage is if you travel, and want to meet ladies outside your local area.

Oh yes - Afterwards DO send a nice thank you email and then go to your p411 account and click on "request provider OK".

If you use the search function on this board, you will find many posts about screening with mention of alternatives. Alternatives include verifictation services (such as preferred411 and others) and seeing several agency girls first to get a "reputation" so that the agency can give you a reference.
In all cases, the lady's safety must come first. If you see well established/reviewed ladies from TER, your information will be safe. If you wander to CL, you are playing Russian roulette.
