The only way to warn people on TER is to create a post like this on your regional boards.

I believe AMPs have fake reviewers working for them and experienced hobbyists accept it as a fact of life.  Sometimes a provider at an AMP gets so many great reviews at a time, it seems like she never sleeps.  You can always tell because these great reviews are the only ones this reviewer has ever written.

If you're an experienced hobbyist, how would you get burned by such obviously fake reviews?  If there's a provider I might be interested in, and I see a review that looks fake, I understand that if I go see her anyway, I might be in for some disappointment.  However, I pretty much stay away because I can't afford to lose money on such dicey situations.

Maybe there should be a "watch out for fake reviews" in the FAQs for newbies?

This is what I mean: suppose Mr. X uses different names to post several 8-9 reviews each of a doxen "new" providers in a few months?  Then after some number of legit hobbyists get deceived and post 5-4s, the provider changes her alias and pix, and Mr. X changes his name and posts new raves.

In LA we have a very active Mr. X! Experienced hobbyists can detect his reviews because he always makes the same mistakes in grammar and punctuation, no matter what name he is writing under--but many hobbyists only figure this out after getting burned by his reviews and his clients.
