Remember, these sites are only useful if the gal you are hoping to see is registered with them!!! With the exception of RS2K's coverage of Chicago, none of the major 3 have a dominant presence in any other markets. Many places RS2K and P411 mean absolutely nothing.
If the gal you want to see will only do so with a service referral, by all means sign up!!! It could make it easier to see other gals in the future. But giving her the verification details she requires, like real name, home phone, work phone, everything a service would require. Do this once or twice, and you will have references!!!
I just stumbled across this place and it looks like I'll be able to learn a lot. Right now I'm stuck in the "no references can't setup a meeting" loop but I hope to find a way out of it soon. 
They are often less demanding with the screening. So long as you can provide verifiable info about your employment, that is enough for them. However, you should always make sure that the provider has reviews on TER, even if she works for an agency.

it is imperative that you go to www.roomservice2000.com and set up an account. This will be your screening for those ladies that you want to meet. Almost all ask for that or preferred411, or references which you don't have.

I recommend looking into verification services for getting started. There have been a few threads on this topic in just this last week. P411, date-check, and RS2K are options to consider.
Good luck - the "no references" barrier can be troublesome, but will be overcome with a little patience.
If you use the search feature at the top of the page you will find alot of valuable information. Basically you will just have to be patient and find the ladies who are willing to verify you with other ifo. in lieu of references, you will just need to supply personal info. they may ask. Just bear in mind their concern is that you are ok.
Some will recommend you use agencies because many require less screening, that is very true but bear in mind that many agencies who do not screen will also not act as a reference for you later on. Some will also recommend you join a verification service such as Datecheck, Preferred 411, etc. Again bear in mind these services are great but at first you will have the same problem, when a lady checks with them she will find they have verified your employment but have no references.
Of course, once you have seen a couple of reputable providers who will recommend you, it all becomes worth the initial hassle.
maybe i'm wrong in my new life of a hobbying, but the amount of traveling women that come through Chitown all seem to appreciate if not require rs2k. I thus assumed that since they are out of staters, then this is a verification process that is nationaly known? Obviously not. My bad.
All traveling ladies know that rs2k is very popular in Chicago. It is free for the ladies to join, so when they tour Chicago they know they can get quick references from rs2k. The exact same ladies come to the DC area they will never mention rs2k, DateCheck is widely used here.
But my basic point was that these are great services for gathering references to show the ladies, makes it quicker and easier for you when filling out contact forms. But just because a hobbyist joins is not going to give him instant credibility with the ladies when he still has no references.
by a referal service like Preferred411, Date-Check or Room Service 2000. Depending on your location, one of these will be more highly utilized than the others.
