"Tark the Shark" passed away earlier today at age 84. He assembled some of the most awesome teams in college basketball at UNLV, winning the championship in 1990. Great coach and an even better showman.

His Long Beach St teams were the only teams I feared as a UCLA fan...Ed Ratleff and that 71 team almost pulled it off. RIP, Coach...
...Tark won 3 straight state titles at Riverside CC (210-26) and another at Pasadena CC (67-4).
It was a great time for JC basketball in SoCal. Lute Olson coached Long Beach CC to a state championship in 1971 and Bobby Dye won a state title at Santa Monica CC in 1972.
