CL providers would not be the best references

for you to start collecting.  First of all, in my area at least, they are transient and impossible to get in touch with when they leave or stop posting.  A  good reference will be someone who is relatively stable and has viable contact numbers so that she can be reached to check you out.  A Website helps tremendously, and most CL ladies do not have those.

Even though some CL providers have reviews on TER, most do not have extensive reviews because of the transience of that group.  (some will, but most don't)  This is important because you should stick to well reviewed ladies to start.  "Well reviewed" means different things to different people, but my definition is ten reviews by reviewers with five or more reviews each. (just a rule of thumb kind of thing.)

With no reference, and being retired with no work information that can be verified, it may be difficult.  You might consider registering with Date Check, Prefered411, or Room service 2000.

I haven't had any trouble with CL, because I NEVER USE IT! It is strongly advised by the many experienced hobbyists here: CL is BAD!

Now that we have established that...

I am a supporter of verification services for getting started as a Newbie. It worked out really well for me, and continues to provide easy and hassle-free verification for any new provider I am hoping to visit. It depends a bit on your actual location, but you might look into preferred411, Datecheck, and/or RS2K.

Some think that using a agency is a good way to begin, but I think you need to be really sure of the agency first. I suggest that if you are considering this route, you first do a search for "agency" on this board for more opinions.

Stud, I am in the same position you are (being able to retire at an earlier than normal age).  I began about seven months ago and usually hobby at least weekly.  

Everything the others have said about CL is true.  I was able to find the proverbial "diamond in the rough" there but realize the odds of that happening again would be so high it is statistically not an option.  Once I discovered TER and was able to look at reviews on the CL ladies, I never went back.

Once I was able to get my couple reviews up, I had no problem getting appointments.  I would suggest you set up an account with Datecheck or Preferred 411.  They seem to be universally accepted by just about all the higher class ladies.  Once you get a few behind you, as long as you are a gentleman, have good hygiene, and pay properly, you will not have any problems.
