Thank you so much Sancho! I am coming in for a friends engagement party but want to stay a little longer and explore ;) I didn't know that tipping was customary but now will be prepared. I am checking out Aspen Skiing CO now and will see what packages they have for lessons.

Hello everyone!

I will be visiting the Aspen area and wanted to know if some locals can give me ideas of fun things to do. It's my first time there and I would love to try out the non-typical tourist stuff lol. I am also in search of the best place for skiing lessons that are not crazy expensive. I had a placed booked and then realized it was two hours away from where I am staying :(

Any feedback/tips would be much appreciated!

XOXO

Here is one. http://www.aspenchamber.org/explore-aspen
plenty more websites with info too. You'll find lots of info in a google search.

Thanks so much! I did a google search but was looking for a locals opinion ;)

Well Dear, unless you mean cross country skiing lessons, think your best bet is to just head to the area you are staying at's ski hill and go with the lessons they have there. Been awhile since I have skied there, think Aspen Highlands was the area with the most expert runs. You most likely have a more beginners type thing in mind. I'll bet Aspen Skiing CO. as got some of the best and most experience instructors in the game so you should be alright no matter where you end up. Don't forget to tip your instructor, a twenty usually is about good for a half a days lesson. I've been in group lessons where everyone walked off with out tipping but one or two people, and it really kills the karma of a good morning on the hill.

Hope you have fun, Snowmass has the best skiing when there's snow, IMHO. Think Snow!

Don't pass up Woody Creek Tavern in the Valley. This is the spot where the Hollywood types go. Awesome food, but can be a wait to get in. I'd almost come out and see about joining you there but not sure what the snow report is looking like. Think they are charging over $100 a lift ticket these days, and for that kind of coin I want to be looking at major powder skiing. You should be able to find lift and lesson packages for not too steep of a price. Good luck and have fun.

LOL @ major powder skiing! Thank you again for the awesome tips. I found some decent packages and have been setting up my fun time schedule quite nicely thanks to the kind people who responded.

Private lessons run around 700 for a full day. Adult group lessons are around 160-170 dollars for a full day. They do offer packages include a lift ticket. You also have to rent ski gear if you do not already have any, which I'm assuming you do not.

Like the others have said, do a Google search and you can decide which lessons and where in Aspen would be the best option for you.

Good luck and have fun

So if you want to take lessons it will be with AspenSkiCo. If you're a beginner than take lessons at Buttermilk. It's the most beginner friendly area of the 4 mountains. Even if your an intermediate I'd start at Butttermilk. Then you can try Snowmass or Highlands.

I took a look at your P411 pictures and your quite the Latina bombshell. So a good place to hang out would be the Little Nell Hotel lobby bar. The hotel is on Durant right near the base of Ajax Aka Aspen Mountain.

If you need ski clothing try Gorsuch, but try and have someone else pick up the tab.

PM me if you have more questions.

I'd recommend Snowmass for lessons. Big mountain, gets you up in the high Colorado alpine environment with lots of endless, easy groomed runs to learn on. Snow should be good after storms this weekend and early next week. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing in Ashcroft, outside of town off Castle Creek Rd, for some quiet, back to nature time. Gotta go see the Maroon Bells up close via snow mobile, even if it's kind of touristy. Sky Hotel bar is hot during apre! Check Belly Up for great live music. Schedule a rendezvous w me :))
