Sports Talk

It's ALWAYS a combination of both sides...

Somewhere in the middle lies the truth. You can't talk about a Seattle victory without realizing that Green Bay's putrid play late in the game contributed mightily to the outcome. And its unfair to Seattle to talk about a complete Green Bay meltdown and collapse without recognizing Seattle's brilliant execution late in the game.  When you have a game that produces last minute drama and a major comeback, you always need both sides occurring. And it did.

If Green Bay executes down the stretch (a key first down, recovering the on side kick), then no matter how well Seattle played, it wouldn't have mattered. Conversely, if Seattle didn't execute three brilliant touchdown drives in the 4th quarter and OT, it wouldn't have mattered how putrid Green Bay played....Seattle wouldn't have won.

This game is a microcosm of why it is so difficult to win in the NFL. Everything for an entire season has to go right. It's a testament to the teams every year that win the SB.  Think about this from the Packers perspective. How much better could they possibly play next season just to be in the exact same position again? (Winning late in the NFC title game and only a few minutes from advancing to the SB). The odds are great that they won't be in that position again for many years. Nature of the sport.

by their own player #86... I don't see how he can live in Wisconsin it will not be safe for him.

But I will say today was a good day to be an investor thank you Aaron Rodgers and thank you Seattle!!

I wanted GB to win because I don't think the Pats could be Seattle, but I think they would beat GB!

Don't count Tom Brady out he's capable of beating any team.

Like you I wanted GB to win as well, as I would've netted an additional $400, overall I'm very happy with the outcome though.

Tom Brady is going to draw money, if I had to guess NE will be a 2 or 3 point fav by the next 2 weeks. I'm considering the coin toss as a play.

IMO Green Bay had a collective team and coaching  collapse that determined the final outcome .

Seattle was lucky to win the coin toss starting overtime.
Seattle was determined to win, while the entire  team played  as a unit until the last second, when most would have seen no hope.
With three minutes left in the game a friend called to gloat about Green Bay's win.
I replied  the game isn't over, call back when you're sure of the win.  He still hasn't answered his phone to let me know if he fell asleep before the game was over, like Green Bay did .

Green Bay played the last few minutes like  they were playing to not lose their lead.

"The players and coaches will replay the game in their minds for a long time. What if McCarthy didn’t settle for field goals on three fourth-and-short situations in the first half? What if safety Morgan Burnett hadn’t inexplicably slid down like the game was over when he could have gotten more yards on an interception with about five minutes left? Could anyone have sniffed out that fake field goal the Seahawks scored their first touchdown on? If anyone could have stopped Luke Willson from making a catch on a crazy two-point conversion after Lynch’s touchdown, would the Packers have been celebrating a game-winning field goal from Mason Crosby at the end instead of going to overtime? Could they have played Doug Baldwin any differently on a huge third-down conversion in overtime that led to Kearse’s touchdown? Or if Bostick just catches that onside kick …

“Put it all together and that’s how you lose games,” Rodgers said.

This game will be remembered for the Seahawks, a great championship team, somehow winning when practically all hope was lost. The Packers will remember it differently. "

If you saw those on field interviews with the SHs just after the game, you'd have your answer of why they won.

Those guys have religion and they hate to lose.

I think the Pats are the better team, but they are going to have their work cut out for them.  They better be prepared to play 60 minutes of football, that's for damn sure

I agree with you that GB played the last few minutes conservatively, but not recovering the onside kick did them in.
