I don't see how anyone with a straight face can say OSU is better than TCU.

The only good thing about this playoff is Oregon or Florida State will be in the title game against Bama.

If the Big Twelve had a conference championship game like the other major conferences do, the winner of that game would undoubtedly have garnered the number 4, or quite likely the number 3 spot in the playoff, as the Big Twelve is a lot stronger conference than the Big Ten, and MUCH stronger than the very weak ACC.

Personally I think the committee got it right. I don't think they had a choice with everybody taking care of business, and Ohio State doing it with an exclamation point.

Personally I thing Oregon is going to win rather easily over FSU, my guess is that they win by about three touchdowns, setting up a ORE/Bama national title game. OSU earned their right to be there, but I don't think they have a snowballs chance of beating Bama

No way could Ohio State beat TCU, but I will agree not having a championship game hurt TCU, but I don't think it's even an argument as to who's better TCU or OSU. Ohio State is going to get blown out by Bama, TCU would have given them a better game in my opinion.

I also would concur we are looking at a BAMA vs Oregon final. Still feel bad for TCU as I just believe they got screwed.

and Bama over OSU. Oregon has a secret weapon that will help them beat Bama. Ready! LANE KIFFIN! I have no idea how Saban has put up with that little prick all year, but if history tells us anything, Kiffin will find a way to fuck it up in the end. I've never met anyone who has been "given" more opportunities and fucked them all up before the age of 40. To his credit he does have a hot wife.

Big Twelve a better conference.....  than the Big Ten....    ????

Big Tens top 2 win...   beating 2 SEC West teams and a Big-12 co-champion

But hey!   The Buckeyes and MSU  were sports though, spotting there peeps big leads tp make it fair

;-P

But I swear, Ohio St. better keep this game close. I don't expect them to beat Alabama but if they get blown out then we should never allow a Big Ten team in this field again. I don't give a shit if the next team goes 13-0. They better represent or else.

Ohio State wins the big 12 and the committee forgets the loss to a 3 win Va Tech team. If you can't beat Tech how the heck do you belong on the same field as Alabama.

TCU got beat by Baylor by 3 points but had no championship game to play in. I would've had it
1.FSU
2.Bama
3.Oregon
4.TCU

We shall see how it plays out maybe OSU will prove me wrong

Especially having beat TCU in their head to head match up. Baylor's only loss was to West Virginia who only lost to TCU by a single point.

The thing is, everyone took care of business here on the final week. So it was inevitable that two teams were going to feel screwed over. TCU had the unfortunate luck to have a pushover in Iowa State for their last game. Both OSU and Baylor faced ranked teams yesterday, and it can't be denied that OSU had style points going for them. You just can't whip a team worse than OSU whipped Wisconsin, with their third string QB no less.

I have to say that while I agree that the committee made the only decision that they could. I don't believe that the four BEST teams are in the playoff. I would say that either TCU or Baylor would be favored against either FSU or OSU on a neutral field.

Hey, it's not a perfect system, but I doubt it ever will be just like the review system here on TER. If nothing else, it gives us plenty to talk, and speculate about. lol

but it's better than the BCS.

When it comes to Florida State I will admit they look like pure garbage barely winning games week to week, but they are the defending champions, and like the great Rick Flair always use to say "to be the man you have to beat the man.

Somehow they keep finding ways to win 2 years without a loss impressive

The field will more than likely expand to eight teams and this season will be an excellent argument for that because there are too many teams that had excellent records that could make a case to be included.  The evolution of the college football playoff system will probably change faster than usual because of the aforementioned argument and the TV money will be there. Look for the presidents to have a detailed discussion of this subject in the forthcoming months. In a lot of cases it is simply to close to call and you are denying a lot of quality teams to compete for a championship.

And then it will be the 9th and 10th team that will be complaining they were screwed. In my opinion, four is enough because the two best will be there in the end to play for the championship ( this year Alabama and Oregon).

I also think 4 is enough.  (At least) One power conference should always be left out for the simple reason that it will encourage power-5 teams to schedule more power-5 non-conference-regular-season games. Regular season will only improve if teams feel they need to up their level of competition in order to get into playoffs.

If you expand to 6 or 8 you enable teams to continue scheduling cupcakes for non-conference games.

Wrt this year....

OSU's overall SOS was better than both TCU and Baylor and non-con SOS wasn't even close.  I think Baylor was dead last of all of div 1 in non-con SOS.  Out of Baylor, TCU, and OSU, a young OSU has best  puncher's chance against Alabama.

I'd have preferred FSU out in favor TCU.  But, that is an extremely unpopular view given the undefeated thing

This was purely a "ratings decision" (of course the committee can never admit as such!). They were going to do everything in their power to get Ohio State into the playoff.

Think about it. If you had Alabama, TCU (or Baylor) Florida State and Oregon in the playoffs, you would have had an entire region of the country not represented. Three teams from the South/ South West and one team from the West would not have captivated the audience that they wanted.

If they reasonably could make a case for OSU to get in (and after their convincing win over Wisconsin coupled with comparing them to a bunch of other one loss teams they could in fact make a case), Ohio State was going to get the nod. They have a huge national following.
