Well, because there are many undiscovered gems out there, and there has to be a first review of a provider eventually, right?
Yes, there are a lot of other sites where one can find hidden gems, but I highly recommend that a newbie stick to TER reviewed providers, at least until you build up a feel for the hobby. After a while you can "take one for the team" with lower risk.

If all you know about her is her CL ad, be cautious. CL is free, and easy to use, which makes it tailor made for LE!!!
Unless you have the cash that would provide you with a defense attorney on retainer, who will actually answer, or return, your call in your worst hour, I'd give CL a wide berth.
Craig's List, Cityvibe, ASPD, Eros, Back Page. It really doesn't matter where you look, there is good and bad on all of those sites. More importantly is to research the names you find. In general I look for reviews but if the gal has a real web site (not merely a listing in some escort mall) I may take a chance.
