I am not taking sides with neither nor, but I would like for you to share you're opinions about this horrific accident. I know Tony Stewart is a complete ass, and he does have anger issues, but do you feel he was at fault for this young mans life during this race event? Tony Stewart caused the young driver to wreck, and in turn the young driver got out of his car out of frustration came towards Tony's car and Tony's car clipped the driver, which caused his body to be thrown in the air, and when he landed on the ground all hope was lost for Kevin Ward Jr. age:20 (RIP).
I'm not blaming Stewart for this. His view could have been blocked by the two cars in front of him, in addition to the fact that the kid was wearing black, at night, on a poorly-lit track. I think it was an unfortunate sequence of events that resulted in a senseless death.
it's called racing. Second, you never get out of your car while the race is still going on even if under caution, until a wrecker truck or officials arrive to your car. Other cars in front of Tony Stewart had to swerve to miss this guy on a VERY DARK TRACK. I don't believe Tony would ever intentionally run any one over, even with his temper. I believe it was an on-track incident that should've never happened. They should change the rules to not allow the driver to get out of the car (unless on fire) until an official gets to the scene.
It was a horrible tragedy that could've and should've been prevented. My sympathy and prayers go out to this young man's family and friends.
Today's NASCAR race was in Watkins Glen and there were some horrific crashes that happened. It totally amazes me the damage that is sustained to the cars, yet the drivers walk out with not even a scratch.
My gut says it's more than "Just Racing". I have watched every heated moment Tony Stewart has had with other drivers, crew members, and the media, including Tony himself getting out of his car and chasing down a fellow driver out of anger while the "race is still going on". I have seen other drivers do the same. It is unfortunate for the young driver who tried to show his anger in the same manner as others have done. he paid the ultimate price.
I predict new Nascar rules placing sanctions and fines for the drivers and/or teams for this type of behavior.
that Tony Stewart will have to live with the rest of his life. And I am sure the 20 year old kids family are going to sue the shit out of Tony, although it was not his fault. There is no way Tony Stewart would have ran over a driver on purpose, and the kid made a very horrific mistake by getting out of his car and dodging cars before getting hit. Unfortunate for all.
I don't see how he could focus on driving and checking himself. Sad, I use to really love Tony Stewart aka Smoke but he lost his edge awhile back. Not to mention I lost interest in Nascar when it became so commercialized and when Dale Earnhardt Sr. aka Intimidator died. Tony Stewart, Kyle Bush, and Earnhardt were my favorites because of their adrenaline.
....It is just too much of a coincidence that the one car to hit him was driven by Tony Stewart. Granted, he never should have got out of his car, which will be the legal defense by Stewart, the track, the racing league, and anyone else who the family files suit against. It looked like Stewart wanted to scare him and got too close and hit him. NASCAR needs to act and suspend him until the investigation is complete. Even if cleared of all criminal charges, I expect a civil suit against Stewart. This will not be resolved for quite some time.
TS might be a poor sport when it comes to self control behind the wheel, and may even be found guilty... or most likely have to pay for his mistake. Race drivers should never abandon their vehicle, and put themselves in the line of the other vehicles on the track.
