TER recently compiled some stats on the traffic on the various boards.  Posts on the Newbie Board are  up by 86% over last year!!!  Over the past 180 days our little board has had more traffic than the boards in LA, LV and Phoenix!

What is even more impressive is that for most of 2007, we have had the Instruction Manual permanently posted at the top of the board.  This has dramatically brought down the number of repetitive "what does xxx (daty, greek, dfk, two call system, etc),  mean posts".  Also, I don't have to post the old standard "Welcome to the Board" post every three or four days.

Given that I'm nearly 3 weeks away from my first anniversary as the Newbie Mod, I'd love to claim the credit, but I won't, I simply don't deserve it.  The credit and my thanks goes to:

1) The ever-changing casts of regulars, and not so regular (I only mean this in regards to the time between posts) experienced guys and gals patient enough and willing to help others.

2) The never ending cast of newbies who have found this to be a safe place to ask questions, particularly those who after doing some research, are needing clarification about something they read on the board, or in the manual.

All I will claim is that it looks like I am doing something right, so I won't be changing anything.

Congratulations all,

jazz32

The posts may not be directly related to your being the moderator, but you do a fine job of keeping the animals in their cages.

Work has been busy enough to keep me helping the new kids as much as I had, but I still think it's a worthwhile cause and do my best to help out as time allows.  You make the board one that I WANT to contribute to, by setting a positive and friendly tone.  My hat's off to you, which is unfortunately showing my thinning noggin, so I gotta put it back on now.

Only been hobbying about 2 years, but I have learned invaluable stuff from this forum.  So, thanks Jazz, keep up the good work.  We all appreciate the work all you moderators do for this site.

Just don't let it go to your head.  LOL

very understanding and patient with newbies and some of us veterans who sometimes slip up.

Thank you for all you do to make this a fun place to share information!

In my humble opinion, you are doing everything right.  You have given this board new life.  We have newbies signing on daily, looking for info, and alot of regulars and providers who are contributing to the board as well.

And you've managed to keep the flame fests to a bare minimum!

Just kidding. :)  The added traffic might actually be due in part to more regular members coming in also...since a lot of us aren't newbies, but still like newbie topics :)...what was an interesting topic as a newbie is still interesting today (how to interact with a provider, what to do in so and so situation, etc).  I'm not a newbie, but like the topics on here a lot better than our local board which has been a mess topic-wise.

You let the conversations flow...but do a positive gentle nudge here and there...but always in a positive tone, not making it personal....i.e. the "just a friendly reminder guys." heeheeeheee.  So, good job..the mod does make a big difference....and for a second there, I was like who's the "newbie mod"...Jazz is doing great...then, I go oh Newbie Mod=Jazz.
