i am new to all of this!
and I am just wondering what is the best way to verfiy someone to make sure they are not LE?!

thanks

I am required as a courtesy to tell you not to ever use all capitals in either the subject line or the body of your post.  It is poor form because it implies that you are shouting at all of us here.

Next, the question's answer depends upon whether you are a provider screening a prospective client or a client wanting to meet a prospective provider.

In the former case, you want to get all of the following information if possible:

The person's place of business and phone number so that you can call there, establish that it is a legitimate place of business and confirm that the prospective client works there.

At least one or two references from other providers he has seen recently who will vouch for him.

Finally their home address and phone number in order to verify that.  This information should be shown to you on your first meeting before any discussion of other business takes place by him showing you his drivers license.

Many clients are leary of sharing some or all of the above and if you want to be very careful, it may cost you some business.  Some providers will only request some of the above in order to obtain more business.

You have to decide on your own level of comfort.

Now, if you are a prospective client, the answer is much simpler.  Get VIP status here on TER and check out the reviews of the person you have in mind.  If the person has at least three good reviews from other hobbyists who themselves have written at least three reviews, that is considered a fairly high level of safety in making sure that the provider you meet will be who they say them are.

You should also, whether provider or client, check out the Instruction Manual link that you will find at the top of this page and read it over thorougly.  There is plenty of good information contained within.

Best of luck

But as far as giving out home address and phone number? I don't think that would be needed for anything. Unless you are calling the provider to come to your home.

If you are single and don't care if she calls you at home, then home phone number is fine to give out. But I sincerely doubt anyone who is married will give out any home number or address.

Now I am continuing with the assumption that you are a provider asking to screen a client. You have to reach your own comfort level. If you are comfortable with a reference from another known provider or two, then that is all you need. If you need to check on work status and make sure they have a job other than LE, then be sure to get a work number and call it. Also make sure you are very discreet with your phone call as not to alert coworkers to the nature of the call.

You could also look for clients who use a verification service such as MFP, RS2K, or Datecheck.

I agree that at least on the first date with a new client, make sure to check an ID (driver's license) to make sure he is the same guy that contacted you. I can just see LE getting a guys name that works at some retail place or something and using that name to make a date.

If you are not at your comfort level, then don't make the date.

MFP=My Fast Pass
RS2K=Room Service 2000

These, along with Datecheck, are a verification service. Guys will join these sites (for a fee) and the site will verify that they are who they say they are. That they are not LE. The trouble I can see with verification sites is that it doesn't find out if he is a "good" client (clean, respectful, etc) or a "bad" client (poor hygeine, handles girls roughly, etc).

I think the providers then join the sites (for a fee or not, I don't know) and can then advertise there and have gentlemen contact them there knowing ahead of time they have been screened.
