While the link below is from the hobbyist perspective, it shows what many gals do for screening.

Asking for personal information isn't an exact science, but it can you some level of assurance that the guy is OK.  If you have his name, address and phone number, it is not difficult to verify that there is a John Smith at 123 ABC St., and this can relieve some fears.

Likewise, if he says he works for XYZ Corp, and gives you the main desk number, you can call and ask for John Smith, when you get you transferred to him, you only say something like "hi, this is Nurse Natalie from Dr Jones' office calling to confirm your appointment", or you are calling from the florist to verify the address for a delivery, etc.  You might even want to let the guys suggest the cover story to avoid any potential issues.  Again it is some reassurance that you are dealing with a real person.

Screening services are great, but they can come with a fee.  If you are interested in this route, I'd suggest that you use the one that has the most ladies in your area listed.

Finally, there are the "Do Not See" lists.  Unfortunately, information on these has to come from other providers, and is usually discussed in more private forums.

Now a question - given your user name, can I assume that you one of the Natalies that can be found by searching the name Natalie in Gold Coast-CA (Ventura, Santa Barbara and SLO Counties)?  If so, much of what I posted below for Marcella, will also be useful for you!!!

Again, welcome aboard,

Hi, I live and provide services in a kind of quiet area where our local police dpt. does not have "vice".  I am venturing out into Los Angeles and need the 411 on how to screen clients properly.  I read Ciara's PhD in hooking blog and she mentions that asking for a referral from another provider is not sufficient.  I need some help here girls(or guys)
