I agree that the high volume ladies (CL girls in particular) will quote 15 minute and 30 minute rates but those are not the gals I'm talking about here. I don't see ladies that see clients back to back. I don't even see ladies that book half hours. I certainly wouldn't go near some gal who books 15 minute appointments!

Yet my first post was based solely on conversations I have had with agency owners and well reviewed providers over time. I'm not guessing here.
You can call it high volume if you want but it is really more of a mindset on what the provider feels her time is worth.  Yes, I agree, they would rather book full hours-be it one or two-than a segment of an hour. But I also stand by my point that most women would rather see a new client for one hour on the first visit. The fear of the unknown is very real in this business weather the ladies mention it all the time or not. Of course, once they know that a guy is OK they would obviously rather see a trusted regular for a longer period of time thus cutting down on the number of unknown guys they may have to see.

All of this being said, the fact remains that, ultimately, non of us has any idea who is high volume, low volume, or anything in between. We book with a gal and if we have a good time we book with her again. All we know about what happens when we are not with her is well....nothing.

There are some weird aspects of this hobby I've recently embarked upon. One thing I don't understand is why for many providers, the 90 minute rate is higher per minute than the 60 minute rate. For example, the 60 minute rate might be $300 and the 90 minute rate might be $500. This is not universally the case but I've noticed it on many provider Web sites.

As a small businessman the pricing doesn't make any sense. You'd think you'd offer a slight discount for the longer time, or, at least charge the additional 30 minutes at the 60 minute rate.

Do providers really prefer a larger number of shorter sessions? Do they prefer 60 minutes to 90 minutes? Is this just tradition?

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed.

The logic is that if you book a 90 minute session you are pretty much taking up two hours of the lady's time. You are, in effect, cutting into an "new" hour that she could be using to see another client. For this reason many indies and agencies charge more to make up for the lost time. This is not always the case by the way. I have seen many ladies who charge a straight hourly rate times 1.5 for a 90 minute appointment. One agency in Boston even offers a discount for 90 minutes on it's slowest day of the week for regular customers.

In my experience, most ladies prefer one hour appointments with guys they haven't seen before. If you are a regular it's a different story but a 90 minute appt. vs. just booking two hours definitely presents more scheduling challenges.

The only tradition in the hobby from the provider's end is how to maximize revenue and earn in the most efficient manner. In general, it's not a good idea to compare escorting to any other type of business. There are more differences than there are similarities. Discounts, when offered, apply more to good repeat customers than to first time buyers.

FWIW, I am an independent contractor and, though I don't bill half hours, most guys in my field that do will charge at more than half their hourly rate when they bill an half hour.  Escorts see themselves more as independent contractors than as small business women.

What you are saying is that a 90 min session is taking up 30 mins of the next hour that she could be seeing another client. Personally I would never see anyone who books one client from 1-2 and another from 2-3. I think, at the very least, a provider should set time aside between clients to freshen up. And I don't mean just physically, but mentally also. 30 mins between one session ending and another beginning is a good start.

So by saying that a 90 min session is intruding upon another hour, hence causing a detriment in the number of clients is another way of saying "high volume". I have noticed that many of the high volume type providers don't want the 90 min or longer sessions, in fact they don't advertise it. They want the 15 min or 30 min sessions, will go to an hour but probably try to cut that short anyway.

They lower volume providers like the longer sessions to get to know their clients and have a more intimate session, rather than wham/bam.

Now as for why some charge more for the 90 min session? I have no clue. Maybe some didn't even figure it out to the per minute, maybe they just came up with a number that was in between their 1 and 2 hour rates? Maybe they prefer the 2 hour sessions and figure if the 90 min was close enough in cost to the 2 hour, a client would just choose the 2 hour?

The vast majority of websites I've visited state the opposite, that they prefer 90 minutes for new clients as it allows more time to get to know each other first.

I've often wondered if the rationale were true, or it was their way of trying to get a new client to pay for more time. Either way, they prefer the longer session.

At least that seems to be the case for indy providers in my area. Why that would differ anywhere else I have no idea.

For me it's both, Zisk. We have a little more time to get to know one another without being so rushed, and I get to make a little more money than I would have with a 60 minute date. Although on the rare occasion it can seem a lifetime, for the most part, an hour is not really that long- it leaves little time for chatting ;)

I do 60 min. and  2 hours only

I strongly prefer 2 hours with a new client and I generally will go over that time even, I like to get to know each other, find out what he likes, etc

I price it so the 2nd hour is only 1/2 the price of the first hour.....I guess I would make more money over all if I saw a series of 60 min. dates but I really prefer it to be relaxed and we nboth be comfortable

The first hour needs to be kept affordable because many clients can only afford that.

However, a client who can afford a second hour (or even half hour) is likely to want to pay for it even if it's a bit more than the first hour.

And to think that Lawrence Summers would call this poor math skills among women.
