Some ladies use a phone call as a means of screening.  NOT the only screening; but in addition to some of their other methods.  As has been said, it is a means of establishing raport.

Here’s a typical newbie question I’m sure and I’m as new as they come. I'm about to take the first step and have several questions but this one is first right now. Is it advised to call a provider vs email and chat with them on the phone some? How much time is realistic? I guess it depends on many things but I don’t want to assume anything at this stage and end up with a bad rep. When I read some of the reviews I see that some providers do chat but I assume it’s with an already established relationship. Any advice?

If their website requests a contact form, do that.  If it requests an email, do that.  If call is suggested then do that.

Some providers like to "chat" prior to first visit, but often only after visit is scheduled to be sure you are not wasting their time.

My experience though is that most providers prefer their website form or email as first contact until you are through with screening.  I have had three after that suggest a phone call to get to know me better, two of which suggested multiple calls as they really enjoy establishing chemistry and rapport.

That is the exception though.  Most of my new visits want the screening info and the visit set up and the chit chat "on the clock" during the visit!

Read the newbies manual in its entirety (link at top of FAQ for Newbies board)-  great tips for getting started.
