What's a proxy server?

(sorry, I'm not what anyone on God's green Earth would call a techie)

No reviews allowed from Proxy Servers.

When fake reviews pop up, it undermines the whole system.

Proxy server
(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

"Proxy server is a computer that offers a computer network service to allow clients to make indirect network connections to other network services. A client connects to the proxy server, then requests a connection, file, or other resource available on a different server."

I suspect that the previous mention actually meant to reference 'anonymous web proxy servers', which allow users to visit web sites without revealing their originating IP address:

Anonymous web proxy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"An anonymous web proxy (cgi proxy, HTTP proxy) is designed to bypass proxy restrictions through a web interface. Web proxies hide users identity from the sites they visit, keep cookies at their site, and delete them after each session and selectively remove Javascript, Java, etc. The server then communicates with the webpage, then communicates with visitor browser."

alt_mgr, thank you, though it all remains way over my head...

It is a way to hide your tracks when you post phony reviews and/or shill.

I tested using a proxy, I think either I can't configure this thing out or TER has removed ability to use proxy :)

I just had a trial and it just expired today LOL.  Just wondering if you tried it as well.
If so, I think I'll have to agree with Staff and give him God status :)
