If so, it has been recently opined that proping it open with the latch is a good idea because knocking can bring about uncalled for attention from maids or others who may be lurking about.
It made some sense to me, so now that's exactly what I do.
If it's at your apartment or home, I don't think it makes any difference as long as you are sure to hear her knock or ring.
I've only done incalls and the door is always locked when I arrive. I don't think a lady knocking is anymore conspicuous than a guy knocking.
And some of my regular ladies do unlatch the door for me when they know I am on my way up....as I do for them when it is an out call. The reason many don't is because, quite honestly, they want see you through the peephole first to at least verify that you look OK before they let you in. Of course, all of us TER guys being perfect gentleman I'm sure none of you ave ever been turned away at the door but I've heard stories form every regular lady I've ever seen about at least one or two guys that never made it past the peephole inspection.

In this case, the gent feels that he was denied service by an 18 year-old provider due to his race. FWIW, the lady appears to have retired after maybe 2 months in the biz. Too bad on all counts...she was really cute. I would have paid $$$ just to be in the same room with her for an hour, assuming she moved around a little or something.
Just out of curiosity, Ernest, what did this provider look like?....and what city is this in? Her ad is gone so I have no idea the answer to either question...

We're not allowed to discuss specific providers, as I understand the rules, on this board. Since you are posting from an alias, I cannot PM you. PM me and I will send you live links. Alternately, assuming that you have found her profile, you can Google her phone number as I just did before submitting a problem report to get the links reattached, so there should be ads available from her profile again soon. There is a site that caches old ads from providers and its server was down. It is now back up.
To repeat, word is that this lady has retired, though I am hoping she comes back with a little better attitude. She was based out of California but had just begun to tour, coming all the way out to the East Coast, before hanging up her garters.
Oh ok.....was just wondering if she was blonde, brunette, Latina, etc...(since you mentioned that she was really hot) didn't know that was against the rules. I read the board discussion and I am not sure that it was conclusive that it was for sure based on race...we're just getting one side of the story...who knows, she could have not opened the door for a number of reasons....maybe she wasn't attracted to him, maybe there was something about him that makes her nervous, etc. It's like she was accused of not opening the door because of race, but we don't have anything conclusive... we're just taking his word for it...

These are a few of the reasons I've heard from good, well reviewed ladies who are or have been on TER (some are retired). Appearing to be drunk, Appearing to be on drugs, showing up with a suitcase big enough to put a woman's body in, hiding out of site of the peephole, looking filthy, looking "just plain scary", showing up with a friend.
Yes, one gal told me of a drunk guy who wouldn't leave and just kept knocking. She called hotel security and told them some drunk guy was pounding on her door. They told him to leave or they would call the police. The hotel didn't give her any trouble about the incident but she changed hotels that night...
The concept of not making a scene or drawing attention is of course very important to these ladies but their own safety is paramount, as it should be.

The front door to your house or apartment? Yes, close it and lock it. The door to your bedroom? I can't see how it would matter unless you are afraid your wife or kids might come in from the other room 
During my senior year the "Take Back the Night" rally (a cause I would otherwise support) decided to focus on fraternity houses. I am a fraternity guy, and they actually used the fact that there were no reported rapes at fraternity houses as evidence that we were really really good at it.
One of the ladies who organized the event was a writer for the school paper and the front page story the next day was an unedited PR sheet. It claimed that every fraternity house had a "rape room": a room in the basement that locked from the outside so a girl could not escape, and that they could hear girls screaming from these rooms on a nightly basis. I was summarily accosted by every one of my female friends, who naively assumed the story was true.
So, yeah, don't do that. Otherwise, lock any doors you would ordinarily lock.
When I go to an outcall I usually call right as I'm arriving. In a hotel, especially with cameras, you don't want to be standing outside a room for too long so.
In a house same thing, I just call from the street and slink in under the neighbors noses like a Jehovas Witness.
