The free clinic mentioned here...

...is actually pretty good. Agreed the wait time can be long, but go early to avoid that (like 1-2 hours early, put your name down, run some errands, then come back when they open at 5:30pm).

They actually do screen for some of the Hepatitis viruses, your clinical interviewer just has to deem it necessary for you to get it. They don't offer it to everyone. Also, the Long beach location also does pharyngeal testing for Chlamydia, which most sites don't do.

You have to ask yourself, what's the point of testing for HSV and HPV? If you have it already, you have it, period -> you ain't gonna eradicate it (for the most part) with current therapy. As long as it's not causing visible or bothersome symptoms for you, a MD isn't going to give you meds for it, nor should they. They do something called "watchful surveillance". Viruses like that are treated for their OUTBREAKS, not cause you just have it. HIV is obviously different. Women should be getting pap smears anyways looking for cervical cancer and it's important to note that your body can spontaneously clear many viruses as well.

$200 is the cheapest i've found for 10 panel test.
anyone get testing done for cheaper than that ?

my deductible is at least $5000 or $6000 last I checked.

so I would have to rack up that much in medical bills before Blue Cross would cover any std/hiv labs.

I'm essentially paying out of pocket.  so I was curious if there were unadvertised deals on testing.

I see that the major name labs do the specimen collection, so there's gotta be a middle man that jacks up the cost.

get it as part of annual physical.  I do.  I also get it done when checking my cholesterol.  no extra price I've got to pay.  and I have Blue Cross also.

Check out that freestdcheck.org site I seen around. I been to the one In Hollywood, gets packed. Its at a big hospital and it was free.

I guess it's worth it if you have time off or don't earn more than that. $180 value for 2 hours of your time.

it's not a complete test though. They don't test for hep b/c or herpes-2

iirc their panel is less than 200, I go quarterly, but the price wiggles a little depending on which tests.

Next day email with results is nice, you can also specify if you want anyone else on that email if you want that for some reason.

My average wait time is sub 5 minutes.  Lot of porn stars go there, you may see someone you recognize ;)

They take cash or cards.

Doctor there will also prescribe (and sell) ed drugs as a recent(ish) thing that they've been advertising.
