Weird that just the other day I should come across a CD he burned for me and it made me reminisce about the old days and where life had taken him, and us all.

Thanks for the bittersweet update Kim.

  Rest in peace jockeypants

Hello all,

I was a provider long ago, based in LA, but I only see very few names that I recognize on a quick glimpse of this message board.  I retired in 2007, got married, had a kid, went back to school, got my BA, MA, and now working on doctorate.  However, this message is not about me.  It is about a hobbyist, who became an incredible friend, who passed away yesterday.  His name here was JockeyPants and in Los Angeles, he was a friend to many of the providers of that era.  He would take care of us when we were ill, cook amazing dinners for us, include us in Thanksgiving celebrations, and provided unconditional support for many of us who did not have conventional support systems.

I was fortunate enough to have made some amazing friendships while in the business and I feel the need to thank the place (this forum) that allowed for me to have known such a loving soul.  He attended my wedding, I was lucky enough to attend his a couple of years after that and was able to maintain a friendship with him and his new wife and her family.  He finally found the true love that had alluded him for so many years, and I know there are people here who will remember him and be happy to hear that his dream did eventually come true.

He was not ill, he dropped dead while running errands yesterday morning.  I am so glad to have had the opportunity to know him and many other extraordinary people thanks to this "hobby" and I just wanted to share my love with you all.  I hope you all are well, I am so thankful for all of the experiences and relationships that I was able to cultivate thanks to this discussion board.  Thank you for being here and allowing the free flow of ideas and feelings that foster honest and open exchanges.

With fond memories, gratitude, and love,

Kim

Dude must've had some goooood Karma; don't we all want to just drop in our tracks and Away We Go!

He made everyone he knew smile. He was one of the funniest kindhearted gents this message board had ever known. I had not spoken to him or you in years, but I wish his family well and it is great seeing you doing so well too.

With a sad heart but happy memories,
Love Always,
KO"

Thanks for sharing your memories of him as well.  I hope great things for you always.

...from his posts back in the day.

Good to hear you're doing well.  I still recall that M&G/birthday party for F.R.225 you had at your place in the Valley.  Wow, that was a long time ago!

Thanks BP,

That was a great party; I too recall it vividly.  Yes, that was 10 or so years ago, how the time flies!  I have enjoyed visiting here again, the memories make me smile.

Kim

Sad but all too common we reunite over a loss. But sincerely great to see your moniker again and hear of your achievements.

  FR.

Thanks, FR.  I used to be in the "dream making" business, as you may have known.  I am very glad I was able to facilitate that for you.  So nice to see some familiar names here.

with all due respect, people who are not ill don't usually drop dead.  He probably had some medical condition and just didn't know it.  Everyone should get annual checkups, and if you're over 50, every six months.

Though I am sad for his passing.  Good for him having lived life so well, and for you to carry his memory.

It's important to remember that both the ladies and the guys are real people. We all have our hopes, feelings, disappointments, etc.. At the end of the day however, we need to be able to look in the mirror and be happy with the person looking back at us.  Ciao!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. I am so happy to hear that he was able to find true love before his time passed, and what a positive impact he left on so many!

I'm truly sorry for your loss.

xoxo

Yes, he was a truly good soul.  I am so glad you have one of his treasures and have thought of him recently.  His wife, for his memorial, has asked all of us coming to bring our "cd mixes" and pie.  If you are so inclined, have a piece of pie on Saturday in his memory.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it has been a nice trip down memory lane for me here.  Hope things with you are great!

Kim

I will Have that piece of pie Saturday along with some very sweet memories.
