He will retire at the end of the 2014 season.

I hope this, his last season will be one of his best.

as a die hard Yankee fan I'll be sad to see him go. I just hope he can stay healthy for the year and go out on his terms unlike Mo who had actually wanted to retire the year before but blew out his knee. I'll be curious to see what type of post the OP gets because I've never understood how anyone could say a bad thing about Jeter. Hate the Yankees all you want put the man is a first ballot HOF and one of the classiest men to ever plan the game.

Derek Jeter is a class act all the way. Plays the game the way it should be played I've enjoyed watching him for years and will hate to see him go.

but how can anyone really hate a player with the class, talent, and career that Jeter has had.

As for pre season announcements, Chipper Jones had a great farewell season, from both fans and foes alike. I would suspect that Jeter would get at least as good a send off as Chipper, and yes Jeter is no doubt a first ballot HOF if there ever was one.

by saying that I have joyously loathed the ''Pantloads in Pinstripes' for over 60 years-That being said, Derek Jeter is one of the finest players and people to ever put on a uniform, even if it was that of the Yankmes. He is 9th over all in the history of the game in hits, has 5 championship rings and is a first ballot HOFamer-  I have some knowledge of him as he lives here in Tampa as do I, where the Yanks do their spring training-Jeter will stop in the middle of meals to sign autographs for kids and is a credit to the game-He lives in South Tampa on the water in a home that resembles a small hotel and deserves every good thing that happens to him-His diving into the seats after a ball without regard to life or limb is a special memory-He has been a great leader and I wish him only the best.......

I got over it, but that's beside the point :-)

How many other players in all of baseball history have you heard talked about by the ENEMY with such praise? Derek Jeter is a class act, he has put up unquestionable HOF numbers, he will finish this season at around #4,5,6 all-time hits while playing his entire 20-year career at one of the more demanding positions on the field with 5 gold gloves to his name, and he fucks women that you and I can only dream about (or pay heavily for)

I say put him in the Hall now, why wait?
